View Full Version : F.A.O anyone thinking of a single wiper
if your thinking of buying a single wiper id recomend "stormwipers" on fleabay, i paid ?71.99 for mine inc smooth cover and wash wipe kit. best part ?? i paid at ?pm yesterday and it arrived this morn !!
ill be fitting it tomorrow so ill get some pics up
I'd maybe wait untill you fit it before you recommend it !!
I bought a single wiper on mine (not sure what make) years ago and it was sh*te, it hardly swept any of the window !!
Waste of time IMO, stick with 2 wipers as they do a better job !!

TEll me, tell me, tell me, What mech from what car? Wanna get rid of the top of the bulkhead and the motor is attached there !
It was set up fine, the problem was that it was just sh*te !!
It doesn't sweep anywhere near as much as the 2 wipers do, so imo its a pointless mod, i mean why make your wipers not work as well ?

AX or ZX should do the trick. Mines an AX one IIRC (been a while), and you can bolt the Nova motor to it so you dont need to butcher the loom either.
Ill take some pics of mine when im next up the barn, fitted it the other day (complete with pepsi can on the motor lol)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Best thing about my first Nova was the fact it had two wipers instead of my old Uno's single jobbie! Since those days I've never understood why people remove two and fit one!! lol
we all know its because it saves weight lol
I have a storm single wiper kit, only payed ?20 for it tho.
That was bad enough, they fit ****e and rub on the plastic blower motor cover, and yeah they sweep much less of the screen.
Plus it dont half do your tits in having the wiper sitting half way up the screen,Lol.
I think it looks better than two tho.

file down
weld
refit
attach straight arm
job done
$**** all total cost
and park it at the side- unless you want to look a tit

im happy with it so stick it lol

i got mine from stormwipers
and its brilliant i think.
i paid ?40 for mine from where they manufacture the product
and that came with the smooth wiper and wash pipe.
Quality item i believe

I had a "proper" one off ebay a long time ago for ?69
No rubbing, no hassle fitting and it wipes plenty of the screen and looks way better than standard. Plus I'd rather have something brand new than out a scrap yard.
yep, and being as this is the best nova ive ever owned so im doing it properly !!

i dont do single wipers i add one and have a triple wiper conversion, trucker stylee!

Well seen as I broke my single wiper linkage with my own hands because it was being gey I thought I might bodge the old wiper linkage and put the straight arm on! sound! works better than beforelol Yours looks good though Draper, be even better when it workslol

i made one myself and it was **** hot, it swepta fair bit of the screen. Granted not quite as much as standard but not far off.

I'm not a fan of single wipers. Annoy me as a passenger & I hate them parked centrally too.
I'd rather spend the money on a proper fuel pump or put it towards the next session of inevitable rust chasing.....
Some of us have to have one wiper. Im removing the top bulkhead panel so where would i mount the motor !?! Its not like the car will go out if its raining anyway !
ive got a citroen one on mine, best thing that ever came off my zx before i scrapped it lol
i get a big enough sweep for me!

Is that just the zx linkage?

the linkage, motor and housing are all contained in one small square about the size of a pocket diary! ! its a good set up!

I'm gonna have a go at getting a corsa linkage to work. Sits up near the battery in the tray and keeps both wipers.
From my initial measurements both spindals are 18"s apart so it should work. Can smooth the bulkhead panel then :)

i made my own single wiper and used a corsa c rear wiper arm and it works a treat

Draper, if reducing your wiper blades buy one gives less vision, but looks good and is less weight, why not go the whole hog, take the single wiper off, it will look even better, from the inside anyway, cos you wont see anything in the rain, even less weight, and two more advantages spring to mind, less drag and more speed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any, I'm a fat Bast**d, so car doesn't need to go on a diet, in fact I'm thinkin of startin a new trend, 4 wiper arms on the front, cos i'm a specky 4 eyes as well.
