i recently bought a nova unfinished xe it had no hubs shafts and wont run i dun every thing else but cant do the running problem i think i know what it is the fool i bought the car from unbolted the knock senser so it is now hanging and i dont have a clue were it goes . can any one help and would this cause it to not run . a picture would be really hepfull to show the knock senser

i dont think so. its just a knock sensor

thats not what i wanted to hear. what about the fact that the fuel pump is on a switch

shouldnt matter either. my fuel pump is on a switch.
what are the symptoms

What ? so you've gotta manually switch the fuel pump on ?

keep turning it over and it will fire rev to about 6 grand then cut out but it will idle if i unplug air flow meter

yes mate its on a switch it was like this when i bought it i ant looked at how the wire it properly yet . if you know it would be handy to get it dun

Engine would run with knock sensor not connected - Knock sensor mounts to back of block, bolted between 2 and 3 cylinder - must be torqued to correct spec !!!

yeah. i have it on my rx7 too. much easier.
both fuel pumps, cooling fans, ignition etc. all on switchs

have you tried it on a different afm ?

Torque figure should bein back of haynes manual

Have you got the wiring to knock sensor/idle air control valve the right way round ? - Red plug to knock sensor / other plug to IAC valve

no i not tryed one but i did think that cause the bloke i bought it off said he had it running
would the air flow meter be the same on a turbo

i will have to have a look in the light make sure they are the right way round had a quick look in haynes manual but i spose ill have to look harder

ok only asked cause my mate has a c20let thought i could try his but looks like im going up scrap yard
