Help me settle an ongoing argument that needs other opinions, which car is quicker over 0-60, 1/4 mile top speed.
1. 1.4sr, full Piper Evo 3 exhaust, lowered 60mm with K&N on 15's or
2. 1.4sri with CAT standard exhaust, standard wheels, standard suspension, Standard Everything ????

I'd say the first one, I beat 1.4sri's in my 1.3SR!!! And thats 17 years old!!! So the first one for sure, standard cars are usually shite, they have either been run into the ground and all the decent stuff taken off, or an old biddy has owned it b4 hand!

This is going to degenerate in to 1.3 and 1.4 nova drivers slagging off each others cars claiming theirs is faster. Does it really matter? You are suposed to be helping other nova drivers not slagging their cars off.

Sorry I didn't mean any offence Damian, the comment wasn't aimed at you. It's just last time somebody asked if a 1.3 or 1.4 was faster it ended up been a slanging match between 1.3 and 1.4 owners. I will check the vauxhall power figures for you, adding the gain you can expect from the modds and give you an answer tomorrow.

Damien, the answer i Prommised. The SR has the NV1.4 engine which produces 72bhp @ 5600rpm, the SRi has the 1.4SE engine which produces 82bhp @ 5800rpm, this is due to a higher compression and different cam. With the exhaust and filter you will get about 6% increase giving you 76.3bhp.Less power but the SRi uses an F13 gearbox and the SR uses an F13CR or F10,If you have the F13CR close ratio box your car will be lower geared than an SRi so your acceleration will be increased at the expense of a high 5th for cruising on the motorway. Other things that will effect the acceleration are the larger 15" wheels which will hurt the acceleration slightly, Also the SRi should be slightly heavier which will slow that down due to the extra things it has on it. The SRi will probably be quicker top speed due to the extra power and longer gears, as for 0-60 and 1/4 it must be pretty close, you would have to go head to head on the drag strip. Tell us who wins.
