Does anyone know if the crossmember I've highlighted in the pic below is structural? Can it be removed without detrimental results to the shell. I do have an FIA approved cage in there now, so I was hoping that might help keep the floor stiff. All in an attempt to reduce weight. I'm putting in my own subframes for buckets so won't need it for re-installing my seats.
Thanks!

Suppose its partially structural but its also a mounting point for the seats. If there is sufficient additional strengthening to the shell like Lee's(Weld in seat rails & roll cage etc) it is possible to remove it.
Personally I would keep it as for the amount of weight you would lose compared to the possible amount of additional flex it would cause I do not think its worth it.
those seat rails in the pic above are not enough. It will still flex more than it should. Definitely leave it in. :)
For the car above, maybe some 32mm tube etc bent around the tunnel, and welded to the seat rail either side, with a better join to the sill on each side too.
but each to their own :thumb:
you might lose a couple of Kg from there, but you'd have to have a beefier cage so the wight save is gone....
