well...
i want a hatchback, preferably a mk2 white 1.2, a lad called rob has offered me a pretty tidy one for ?400 just waiting on some pics... and was pretty much set on getting it and then putting my gte engine in it over the summer...
now i'm in some what of a pickle...
i got offered an apparent "mint" blue 1.3 saloon low miles elderly owners etc... think it's mk1 (havent seen it yet) ?100...

and i really like the saloons!?! but i cant buy two, as i already have my smashed up gte sitting on the drive and my parents aren't too happy about that.

opinions people? anyone got some nice pics of saloons? are the bumpers hard to get hold of?

thanks for your much need advice
chris

are saloon panels, and bumpers etc hard to get hold of?

if i dont get the saloon anyone on here interested?

the front of saloons is the same as a hatch iirc, pretty sure the wings are the same as a 5 door nova front

i miight be interested depending on price/cond/tax n MOT etc etc

The roof line is a tad shorter than a hatch, so the rear quarters are smaller as well. Front end is the same as a hatch. Your GTE exhaust will fit; but you'll need to extend the tailpipe if you want it to come out the back like a proper saloon one.

My old one

No decent pics of my current one at the mo.

IMO there's something about the lines of the saloon that just looks right. The hatches just seem too short to me, but having said that I hate most hatchbacks these days lol

Oh, and you can put an amp and two subs in the boot, if you're that way inclined, and still have room for the shopping :thumb:

mint buy the saloon above, looks mint, would be good to see a saloon on a road rally, prehaps a rwd conversion lol

under the carpet in the boot, the weld across the floor where theyve "added" the boot on. other than that, usual nova spots (i.e. everywhere!) and my lil baby (taken a few months ago and with my cruddy phone)

Same as hatchbacks in terms of rust and mechanics, although have a good poke around underneath the boot, my current one is shagged down there. Havign said that, most of the saloons I've come across (not literally) seem to be in far better shape than the hatchbacks.

Few more pics of my old shed:

its not that saloon, it's a blue one... don't know whether i'll road rally it, as it'll be a 1.3 for a while till easter at least. might just sell up all my rally parts, not quite sure yet...

Thats not the saloon for sale, thats my old one which has disappeared off the face of the earth now... not even DVLA seem to know where it is lol

However, if by some freakish chance of nature it turns out it IS that one - H578 YOU - you have a buyer right here :thumb:

[edit]Draper, new one will be Opel-ed too, but with different badging to my old one :D

Saloons are on the increase in terms of them getting into enthusiasts hands.
I would still probably go down the saloon route unless it turns out to be a bit of a rotter.

Saloons seem to command a lot of respect these days & Ive said before, if I had the time & space I'd love to do a saloon. Ive yet to see one done well & Ive got some cracking ideas for one too.

One day!

i think a saloon would look good kitted up - as long as it was done well

Saloony
03-01-07, 03:09 PM
Something that you hatch boys good never do, cos out would come the isopon and the fibreglass and the saloon would gain chav status. So piss off and leave us grandads to the booted one.

Jack

There's a kitted black one in the features somewhere. Originally I was going to kit my red one, but sense got the better of me lol
