I wus reading a rally car tech guide the other day which detailed getting a kit from some peeps called Rally Design which would allow you to convert a std shock into a fully adjustable coil over. It involved a new spring and an adjusting threaded section which you welded onto the shock once the bottom large spring flange had been ground off.
Anyone come across this or tried it on a Nova and did it work OK?

rally design are a pretty good company so i would guess that the mentioned kit would be good so long as its all done properly

Dave Pearce, hmm he mixes like a man with no hands

If you think about it, theres no reason why it shouldent work OK, as long as the threaded tube and spring-platform are of good quality!

Ive seen similar kits in \#\.demon-tweeks.co.uk target=new[|]Demon Tweeks

There was something in Max Power a few months back about these kits, they just have a sleeve that goes over the top of the standard shock and basically made it into a coilover, I cant remember how much they were, but I will see if I still have the maga that they were in. If I do I will scan it and send you a copy.

2.0 16v on its way soon!!!! :D

The tech bit showed the bloke unscrewing the top of the barrel and draining the oil out first. This was from sumthing older like a MK1 Ford Escort. They also supply a fully adjustable turret adapter to get the camber etc right.
I'm going to make inquiries and if it seems worth it I'll post up some details :)

Peeps have been doing this for years.....I've got "very" old magazine with guides on doing this. When I say old, I mean from about 1965 :O

It seams easy enough to do as long as you've got a grinder and welding equipment, there's little stopping you. (mental note...I have these, so what's stopping me!)
