My nova has been idling like sh*t and on the idle speed control valve the jubilee clip is the wrong way round which makes things worse, not sure why but the headlights and dash lights have started dimming as if im loosing power :tard: I splashed out yesterday on two new yoko`s yesterday because my front tyres have gone old and bold! then i woke up this morning to find i had a flat so i got out my qualitly vauxhall jack which claimed some of the skin off my knuckles:cry: then the jack slipped a bit and managed to push my wing out a little to give it some kind of escort cossie look! so I carried on with my day as always n then the heavens opened so I flicked the stalk to get the single wiper moving and it managed to find itself on the bonnet:mad: I realised my day was goin from bad to worse! ive just tryed to adjust the linkage and then snap:eek: ! I broke the plasic ball join thingy on the end. Goodbye wiper. what a load sh*t w*nk, sorry I had to have a moan about it!

No, the dash falls out, the seats fall off their runners, the indicator stalks come away and the headlining peels away like a wet pair of pants PMSL

I know full well what there like, working here www.jam-motorsport.co.uk (http://www.jam-motorsport.co.uk) taught me a lot about them

tbh, there still better then a nova tho. Newer, safer, cheaper to insure due to immob as standard, better MPG, better interior the list goes on.....

Newer

thats where i have to piss on your fire, maybe im getting old but a newer car doesnt automatically mean its better. If I had the money and the space I would happyily drive around in 1960s Chevy everyday. Newer just means more complicated, more unneeded wiring ect..

Agree totally. Its just a shame that as a trade off, it has no character whatsoever. Its as dull as a day out in Swindon lol

And i also fail to see what it is about Jam that needs tuning Even Marmalade has pretty good spec from standard? Although I CAN see why that would give you an insight into Peugeots lol lol

The reason im getting a pug is because im as familiar to them as i am to a nova.

Also, all the factors i mentioned, do play a part in me buying french

No, you said it was like banging your head on a brick wall... i was merely stating that even if you told me it had 300bhp and did 70mpg, i would still rather stick my head in a lions mouth and flick its bollocks with a wet towel than own it lol Surely you know me by now!

Even Dar's GTi 6, despite being a good car which goes very well indeed, i still have something niggling me in the back of my head that reminds me its been built by a frenchman who really only builds cars so theres something to burn in case theres another riot lol

novas and 106's are both cheap cars! and id say there both pretty good, light, handle well, look good(novas look better : ) imo)etc......but if your gunna rip novas dont bother! and go on about how your new car is when its just the same! you can only do that if you move on to a proper car that's out off a novas league.

Silly argument.

Both cars are poor & not worth a gnats breath if you were 50 & usually get cheuffeured about in a 7 series. Fact of the matter is a Nova is generation behind a 106 anyway & the fact that both cars have been compared in this thread bodes well for the Nova.

I havent got any issues with anyone on this site that doesnt have a Nova anymore or even just wishes they did. Good luck with the Pug, youre gonna need it!

Just my opinion but I would never buy a french car, they are awful.
My mates 106 Rallye was so unreliable & kept dropping to bits, he just wanted shot of it in the end & sold it back to the dealer. He even wanted to buy my old Sport off me in its place!.
My Girlfriend had a 306 td Sport thing and that was shocking! It had a different fault every month even though it was low mileage and only a few years old. Faults included included:-
Caliper cracked?!?
Rear beam bushes split
Exhuast back box rotted through and dropped off!
Clutch at 36,000miles(And yes she can drive properly!)
Wiring harness for the drivers door wore through and went green
Engine sprung water leaks everywhere
Radiator split(Tried about 5 different places to get a new one & there was loads of different types)
The final straw was when the starter wiring shorted and nearly set the car on fire, luckily the fire brigade got there in time and cut the battery cable.
I'm sorry but if something trys to kill you they kinda put you off!!!
She traded it in and bought herself a Corsa C and never had a days trouble in the four years she had it, she has now upgraded to a Sportshatch & she loves it.
My neighbour has a 306 and I dont think it has ever started on the first attempt
Quality cars!!!! Not

I've got a G reg 205 GTi aswell as two Nova's,two Mini's and a Civic VTi

I use the Civic everyday as its quick, reliable, got every posible electrical option etc but its bland and lacks soul...

My Nova GSi i bought because i always wanted one and it was clean...

My SR Nova is my road rally car, that caused me loads of stress, spent a week welding it and doing the bodywork, and i've had a host of mechanical problems with it,all this and i've done less than 30 miles in it since september when i bought it!,most people would have given up on it but i've got a bond with it now and me and the little car are going to have hours of fun on these night rallys:thumb: ...

My mini's(98'R Cooper mpi and 94'M Cooper Monte Carlo) ive got Because i've always liked them and always said i'd have at least one:) ...

The 205 1.6 GTi (90'G)i bought 4 years ago(for ?150) to build into a stage rally car,had failed the m.o.t on brake pipes, joints, emissions e.t.c,found that the engine had been rebuilt badly so i replaced that, then found the gearbox was knackered, changed that, fitted a non sunroof roof skin, replaced the headlight backing panels as they had rotted away, did all the bodywork, sprayed the car, fitted the cage/seats/cut-off/extinguisher e.t.c,bought all the nice bits: big brakes/bilsteins/braided lines/cam+vernier/hyd handbrake/poly bushes/sump+tank guards/e.t.c
got to the point where had gone from ?150 to ?3k+ and wasn't even finished,?3k would buy a decent RAC logbooked 205/Nova e.t.c with spares ready to use...
I then came across something that really put a spanner in the works= french wiring!,yes when they go green and break up!,i've had another 3 complete looms from breakers yards and they've all been the same so the cars been untouched for 6 months and i bought my SR to use instead,i will make a loom up myself but i've lost interest in the project and there's no motivation:( ...

As i see it most cars have bad points, the peugeot is the most stressful car i've ever owned(and i've had loads!),the SR has stressed me out aswell, the civic i've had for a year, done 8k miles in it and it hasn't broke once(its done 120k aswell)gets driven hard everyday, but i want to get rid of it because its boring:roll: ,cant comment on the mini's or GSi as i never use them...
So for me anyway just because a car is relible and well spec'd doesn't make owning it more pleasurable, spending weekends toying with the car i'm using i find more enjoyable than just getting in it everyday and checking the oil and water once a week!...

But anyone thinking of going french good lucklol lol lol
