if mk1s are the same as mk2s. the boot stay should come off with tap of a hammer. the hinges have a pin going though them just push the pins back though the hinges. use something thinner then the pin else you'll get it jammed (as i have done somtimes) and the boot should just fall off. oh and make sure the wires are though first (they just unclip and pull then out of the boot) easyer if you have some one to take the strane of the talegate as well

The hinge pins have small cir-clips on them. Don't loose these.
if mk1s are the same as mk2s. there not, i tried fitting my smooth boot of my mk1 on my new mk2 hangs too low might have to change hinges or something? but follow what he said its easy 10 minute job max

mk1 tailgates are the exact same as mk2 i neva had any trouble with fittn them

i left these out on mine and one of the pins worked loose and boot just about fell off when i opened it! those circlips are important lol
mk1 tailgates are the exact same as mk2 i neva had any trouble with fittn them i can assure you there not it probly depends if yours was on the change over year. the mk1 i had was on a 1.3sr, then fitted to my antibes(both on d reg) but wouldnt fit my mk2 k reg for starters the mounting point by the roof(hinges) needed grinding cos they where too wide and the boot wouldnt fit even after solving that it hung far too low:mad:
i want to remove a mk2 tailgate (j reg) an replace it with a mk1 tailgate from a g reg
will that not work as mk1 an mk2 are different ?

They are identical across the board.
Your Nova must've had a massive rear ender.

They are all the same, Vauxhall have superceded the mk1 spoiler with the mk2!
not being funny cant be ****d to argue might be just mine, im not exactly gonna be making it up am i! i would of kept my smooth boot otherwise + hasnt had a rear ender this nova is mint as can be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just swapped mine over mk - mk1 fits like a glove had to change the lock mech but every thing else was ok
Agree with the others, All the same across the board.
what would be the point of changing the design??
fair play but i can assure you it didnt work on my motor im a fully qualified panel beater/sprayer im not some nob jockey making it up
