hey, im just about to get ready to change my cam belt on my nova gsi and bought a cam belt kit including tensioner, and was wondering is there any other parts replaced easier while cam belts off, was think water pump as well?
Waterpump is easy to replace, and can only be replaced with the belt off.
But the bolts can sometimes be difficult to remove and the pump seizes in the block.
I'd take the old belt off, give the pump sprocket a turn make sure it turns freely, make sure the shaft has no play, and that the pump isn't leaking.
If its all good the pumps fine.
Altho it may just be worth changing it anyway, as a new belt puts extra stress on a old pump.
Cambelts a really easy job on an engine with a tensioner.

ok then i might have to make another trip to unipart and get a water pump as i dont want to have to strip it all down again to do a water pump in the future when i can sort it now!

Has your GSi got the E16 or C16 engine?,from past experience i allways change the water pump on the earlier engine where the pump is the tensioner, for the sake of around ?15 it's not worth risking the old one leaking and having to do it all again;)

yer cant be much from a unipart or somewhere i will find out tomoro and let you know!
I paid about ?20 from motorfactors.
Gsi pump is same as GTE, and 1.4 etc.
1.2/1.3 have a different sprocket on the pump iirc.
