How's your friends replacement piston saga going?

The piston is in place now with new rings. The cylinder is much better, with only the slightest hint of a mark on it. The head should go back on tonight, and hopefully it should be up and running. Unfortuanately the mobile mechanic that did him no favours originally is doing/advising on most of the work. I`m not interfering too much as I dont want to offend the "mechanic" who is a friend of the family.
