As said on other threads, unless you're rallying the car and the rules stipulate you need to keep the back seats in, then ditch them.

Not only will it be extremely unsafe to carry passengers in the back (if their head smashes against it during a crash, or even a pothole in the road, you're looking at possible severe head trauma), and any friends you currently have will soon be pissed off with having to clamber round a cage to get inside in the first place.

well i would want interior but would only carry a passenger in back once in a while, but it just looks and feels better having full interior...not jus bare metal and cold feeling!! plus i will be having subs in boot so i wouldnt want them on show!

I would advise against fitting a cage whilst retaining rear seats for the same reasons as already mentioned, plus, the rear stays of the cage will foul the seats anyway requiring these to be cut to accomodate.

Here's the rear view of my last Nova with welded in Sparco cage.

Heres mine, Fusion Fabrications, as far as i'm aware its a one off, connects to the edge of where the bench would go so you can still slide the seat back (difficult with the fearless one) make me a good enough offer and its yours :thumb:

what a fooking waste of money!

Show cages are on par with delta kits IMO!

Why would you spend X amount of money on a cage if its probably gonna be more dangerous than anything in a crash!

You might as well give me ?300 and ill sit in the back and smack you over the head with nice bit of 3" alloy piping when you crash!

Look how fooking crap that cage is! It's bolted down with what looks like a couple of fooking self tapper screws and look and the bloody main hoop its bolted to hold it together!

Seriously can anyone give me 1 good reason (other than to look good, which again is questionable) why you would have a fake "show" cage?

Fooking crap? It achieves what it was designed to do, you may not agree with the concept but the "cage" itself is well made. its not fixed inplace (nor does it use self tappers) and it won't ever be!, it was only trial fitted when it arrived, it now sits in my garden shed

thats a bit extreme, although personally i do put them in the same catagorey as single wiper converstions and 6 inch "racing style" illuminated rev counters with ott shift lights lol

thats never been proved

Just answered your own question

To be fair, i didn't realise the fixing points were quite so flimsy, its was hard to tell by the pictures...

right,

the argument isnt that the cages look crap, it is that they do more harm than good. Yes it hasnt been proven (thank the lord), however if you look at the show cage posted earlier in the thread, I cant see any mounting points on the rear and only small holes on the 'main hoop' to bolt it down. As for saying that you will only carry rear passengers now and then, that time you do carry some then it is sods law that it will happen.

If you are in a bad enough accident then either the cage will rip itself out of the floor and go banging round the car, or if it is mounted well enough and strong enough the main hoop will support the weight of the car however it wont balance very well and the front will drop to the floor but, the A-pillars and windscreen wont support the weight of the engine and car so it will crumple down to the scuttle panel where there is some strength. I personally wouldnt like to use my neck/head as a brace to stop the car flattening itself.

Do it properly or dont do it at all

A bit extreme but you can see how the car will shape itself around the cage which is fitted properly and designed to protect the drivers.

i hear you brother, there is fixings in the rear, when it arrived i did think about welding thicker fixing plates and welding the centre of the main loop to make it one piece but too much hassle!

How can you slag his cage off KPAutomotive when your cage pics show that yours isn't even bolted to the floor??

its welded in them pics and is now also bolted in.

Haha if you have to resort to trying to pick holes in my workmanship then fair enough but even if my cage had all he weld cut out and all the bolts removed it would STILL protect me more than a silly plastic fake cage!

Cant believe i missed this gem of a post!!! lol  lol

Must be up there with some of the stupidist things people have EVER said on the internet!

What do speedlines do other than look average... well let me explain.... The round things called "wheels" are there for the purpose of having rubber tyres fitted to them to aid in providing traction to the vehicle.

Without wheels your not going to be going anywhere so in theory you need these "wheel things" more than you need silly alloy cages.

Thanks

Rob

PS... think about your replies before posting them... you may end up looking silly.

Just to add my twopence worth too, i can actually see your point to an extent, but what your forgetting is that its very unlikely that in a crash, you'll get a piece of speedline alessio embedded in your skull. lol
