Its been a while , but can anyone help on this subject of subs ? I,m thinking of putting either a vibe evo 12 " x 2 or a single kicker 15" in the boot of the motor ....both boom at around 1400 watts peak ,,,, BUT ... can anyone shed some light on which will give a better bass performance ??
Cheers , and seasons greetings :)
2x12s fopr tight punchy bass
15 for deeper rolling bass
What kinda music do you listen to ?
Rich
Do you have model numbers for the subs?
10" is the future :D
10" is the future :D
Mucho agreed sir. Adds an excellent definition and a wonderful resonance without rattling the fillings from your teeth, never mind the Nova dash!
Smaller for fast dance/trance.
Larger for heavy rock/hip hop bass.
Tis all a matter of what you listen to.

JL 12" W1 if you want a resonable priced one or A JL 12" W3 if you wanna spend a bit more.... W6 if you want mega bass and W7 if you wanna implode your lungs.

My musical tastes are quite varied ....mostly hard psy trance , drum n bass ...even placebo ....
The set up I,m looking for is to fit my 1.8 cavvie - ( rust in peace Nova - still miss you m8 ) which at present has the following ... 4 vibe hex 5.5s , 2 in front doors 2 on shelf , running off a 600 watt amp , in the boot 2 x 10 Boss sound sub cabinet - 500 watt max ( dirt cheap - neon light included - cough ) powered by a 480 2 channel amp. The bass is there at low volume but if I want to go a little higher the interior speakers drown the bass out ...and to be honest it just doesnt cut it .
From past experience , I,ve always found bass is attributed to cubic inches ...therefore I think the way foward should be the vibes 2 x12 " ...having used a black air 10 a few years back I wasnt let down...but then again maybe the 15 " ......offs - I give up .....time to listen to country and western - problem sorted .
Seasons greetings.
whats the rms of each sub, look at the rms, not peak!

yeah - I must admit , the vibes hex series I,m using in the doors n shelf are awesome. Theres a local shop ( vibe dealer )nearby ...think I,m gonna pop in and have a word ...or ebay if the prices are too high.

Blimey . Had a word , was informed that the 12"x2 passive would be an excellent choice as a favoured all-rounder ...at ?525.00 !!! Buggar that . I went to dick turpins online stores ( formerly known as ebay ) and bagged the very same for ?350.00 . Will keep you posted for those mildly interested .
Happy new ears all.
