lately my temp has started goin to half way usally it goes to quater so i thought id change my thermosat wat a gay idea on the 1.4s i had to take my cam pully and belt off just to get to it any way as i said i changed that and its still running at about half when it used to run at a quater im puttin it down to the wheather but it went up to hot at night when it was cold. fan works so wat do u reckon it could be

check to see that all ur water pipes r ok, none bent to reduce waterflow!
Thought of flushing ur coolent system and renuwing water/collant etc. My engine has been running a little hotter the last few weeks, but only a little bit!!

my 1.2 only ran at 1/4 temp then when i changed the thermostat it goes to half or so. i think its normal. prehaps you have/had a slight blockage in the system and it got disloged. try dicko's idea of flushing it. do a reverse flush too!!

ive just changed the water and coolant ive just installed a digidash and on tat the temp gauge goes bang on half is tat right or should it b lower

Should go to half when at idle and quaterish on the move. The design of the manifold for the 1.4 means that the sender to the temp gauge doesnt get far enough into the water flow for really accurate readings.

if your stat is working properly
and it is not moving
and you don't have the heaters on :D

sounds like stat stuck open and guage needle set wrong
you have white dials don't u?

If the stat was stuck open he would run colder than that, and loose his water quickly.

i used to take the stat out of mine in the summer to make it run cooler

yeah, but his is running at half way. Thats the max it should get, then the thermo cuts in. Once on the move it should drop down a little, and with the thermo wide open it definately would.

ste i ad a go at doin a digi dash so ive got a digi dash now dumped the white dials well as soon as i start the car and it warms up it goes straight to half and stays there does go to 1/4 when im on the move ive just changed the stat got one from halfords

Mine runs a 1/4 nearly all the time, up to 1/2 when stuck in traffic with fan on!
