Came off the road this year in Sep/Oct. Got a lock up so i can do some work to it this year withoute getting cold and wet on my driveway!

Plans are:

Mount Intercooler properly
Bit of bodywork
Quaife LSD
Coilovers
Neaten up interior and spray it
Finish few jobs to inside etc

Came off the road looking like this:

Only really done a few bits and bobs to mine so far, been busy with few other jobs, headgaskets, brakes etc... lol

Intercooler, was the first job that i wanted to do:

Looking at it in the pictures you can see where the I/C is pushing on the bottom of the bumper, this isnt finshed yet still got to make a new bumper mount and cut a little bit more out of the bumper.

But looks much better!

Got these seats shortly before i took it off the road, as you can see needs the inside spraying bodycolour:

Welded around the rear turrets for a bit more strength

Finally getting rid of the flushed tailgate, and replacing with early item:

PS Shopping trolley habndle removed too!

Well thats pretty much it for now, progress is slow due to 12hr shifts at work plus 2hrs travelling each day, should get a nice bit done over xmas though!

lol what a waste of a early mk1 boot lid worth about ?60 ;)

Cheers Carl, i agrre will look better with this boot and spoiler. Whys it a waste of an early tailgate Baxter?

And Nwalliams, its an evo VIII one thats covered 4k, cost me probably about 1/10th of what a newnaftermarket one would have. Plus looks pretty cool anyway i think. It is running 22psi in 5th...

I think baxter said that because the lock recess has been welded over?
So it now looks like a any normal mk2 boot with the grab handle removed...?

Looking good Paul, a std gsi spoiler, and the std boot will look much better. :)

The Mk1 boot has a smaller number plate recess. On a Mk2 boot the recess stretches right up and under the grab handle.

Just got to get rid of that rear bumper then and the car will look even better. :thumb:

If i get rid of the rear bumper, it means i will have to get rid of the sideskirts, and then the whole car basically needs spraying again which would mean i hve to put other plans on hold.

Thanks for the comments

i think a std rear bumper sprayed the same colour would still work with the skirts fella :thumb:

So it does, never noticed that before.

I'd put a painted std rear bumper on too, it would still work with the skirts, with the bumpers being body coloured.

photoshop request then please!

It'll look good, trust me ;)
With the skirts not being over the top like some kit skirts, they'll look fine with gsi bumpers.

Made a bit of progress with my Nova recently, took all the hammerite out and the rest of the sound deadening, well most of it, thats taken ages!

Removing all the rear seat mounts, save a bit of weight, and just looks better.

cage i can't be bothered to take out, so taped it up! not too fussed about finish round there because you won't see most of it anyway.

Just got a few bits of fillering rnd the mounts to do, tailgates off ready for painting, windows are all out, just got roof to prep. Should be going off for painting in next few weeks hopefully

V6's go very well IMO.

Cool progress, I actually think that rear bumper looks OK mate.

Nice car & the seats match the colour really nicely.

Cheers Craig, think the seats are little bright, the V6 is the usual piece of ****e i buy for each winter lol, first was mondeo 1800, then nova sri, this year i wanted a v6 because its fairly powerful, being towing a low of things about, plus it was cheap.

Yeh i do like the rear bumper, bollocks to it, its staying.

Paul
20-02-07, 01:28 PM
there was a reason behind that, imagine number plate being there with no surround, look like ****. however got different tailgate now...

See what you mean about your gearbox mount being different to mine...

It is quite a lot higher.

Got my ally blocks cut out, going to get the bolts for them tomorrow, then going to have a go at spraying the bay, removed the firewall/bulkhead thing, infront of the battery so needs spraying, it looks quite beat up from conversion scratches, the XE airbox, LET filter etc etc
