Hi, i have a mk 1 nova, it has a 1.6 engine in which is in bot of a state at mo, wondering whether anyone had any tips on cleaning an engine up??

Also is anyone getting rid or knows where i can pick up a cheap copy of the haynes manual for 1989 nova?

You could send someone into a charity shop.

I sent my dad in to get one for a fiesta a while back... only cost him a quid.

i degreased mine with petrol then painted it all with silver cylinder paint during the rebuild!

to clean an engine (if it caked in oil) you could pressure wash it 0 just make sure the electrics are all sealed up.

you can also use "gunk" or similar engine cleaner - plenty available from halfords - also v good. Some require washing down afterwards though

Finally - haynes manual - try ebay - loads kicking about - I bought a mint one - no tears, oli marks or broken spine for ?2.50 inc postage!!!
