Terri-ann's first car (nova)

This is my Girlfriends first car - A 1991 1.2 Merit Nova. I got it to her for an early x-mas pressie.

Wasnt a planed thing, god knows i dont need more Novas in the driveway, but it came up at a superb price and i just couldnt say no.

Its got 17k miles, genuine, and is pretty much rust free. The arches and engine bay are perfect. It lay outside for a while so the paintwork is badly faded.

Were going to buff it up and then get any bits painted if needs be.
First plans are to get her test over and done with before the summer and hopefully this will serve her well getting to her work placement!

Yeah they are lethal with the salt here. Dont get any false impressions about clean novas being here, they are mostly all rotten, i just happen to take my time and wait for the clean ones. Something my dad taught me a while back when i said i'd never get a clean one.

My opion is there are still plenty of sub 50k novas out there Ive had one myself (and still got one) and seen a few others every now and then!

Keith is always on the look out and people know hes in love with novas so thats how he gets the right information!

Small update folks, needed to get the brakes sorted as they were seized. So we set about removing the rear drums, underneath they were perfect. So i got a wire brush and cleaned them Red oxided primed and painted them black.

Drums removed. Rear bumper removed! Back panel is mint :)

Finally 70% stripped for the respray.

Unfortunatly removing the front bumper showed some rust on the lower front panel, so were getting a full new front panel fitted.

The car's getting booked in the next few weeks for a full outer repaint in the original dark red colour. GSI bumpers and spoiler. And will eventually get some alloys and lowered.

It will get fully resealed underneath and waxoiled too.

Terri was a little dis-heartened when we saw the front panel rust, but i've reassured her it will be perfect once replaced. Any words of encouragement would be much appreciated :) If anyones got any ideas to help her with Mod's just let her know. (keep/remove side repeaters, locks etc etc)

Its getting delocked, but terri is unsure if she wants to keep the side repeaters or not. Obviously we'll get clear or smoked ones to replace the orange glass.

Wheels will most likely be softstars as they come new at a silly cheap price and still look great. Brakes will be 16v or V6, and it should get all the GSI outer gear (bumpers, skirts, surrounds etc)

Ok guys need your help! Theres a decision to be made and i would like a little input!

Keith came up with the idea of getting her painted but now he thinks we should go white! As this project doesnt need to be finished asap we can take the time to strip it and send it for the full re-spray.

Keiths idea was white, leave the bumpers and get her slammed and a blue (sr??) interior?

Im no pro at all this and i think its not a bad idea but some pics of other white novas and your opinions would be nice.

I think its cuz i just dont seem to have the flair and imagination that he has, tbh when i first looked at the car i cudnt see past the fact it looked old and the colour was an awful flame pink... but keith seemed to look at it and see a good project, good car and well worth the ??!
I respect his ideas etc, but id just like to see some examples to bring me round to the idea as at the minute i cant imagine it anything other than burgandy!

I think im goin to steer clear of red now... i like the blues, whites, and greens better on novas. Personaly the colours i like i think are more classy and suited.
As for bad boys car... i just want mine to look really subtle an sexy!

Well ive been lookin in the feature gallerys and having a good long think about everything and ive decided instead of just tidying her up im going the full hog!!
Im changing the colour (to be revealed once she is sprayed!) And going all out in terms of suspension and good styling, been chatting to keith about ideas as he will be the one fitting all the stuff as i will be in dublin from July!
Ive decided that if im going to do this i may as well do it right!
So first things first need to get stuff for rust kill/prevention and sort that before she goes to be sprayed!

Keith will probably keep you all up to date with whats going on and i will as best i can!
