GSI help required

hello novaloaders

i need a bit of help from the experts ! i've got a 92J Nova 1.6 8V and it is a GREAT car. i have loved driving it. it's pretty f**kin fast and a lovely little mover. it makes the old golf i used to have look average however it is sitting on the drive with no tax or mot as the insurance is too high. i know it needs the handbrake fixing and its got a flat battery now, but other than that it's never given me days trouble. i originally paid ?1000 for it 2 years ago and it's still a head turner

Question is >is it worth sorting out with an M.O.T or should i charge the battery up sell it as is, B) any idea what it's worth as it is.

Without an MOT its not worth a wnak im afraid, get a ticket on it and you might get 600 for it at a push, UNLESS you ebay it at a time where a lot of people are after one. It all depends on the demand pal.

Welcome to the site....

As said above... with older cars it really isnt worth trying to sell without an MOT.

For the price of a handbrake cable (assuming its stretched) it's really worth fixing to get it through an MOT. Plenty of people still want to buy GSI's especially if its a good example J reg as people seem to think they carry less rust.

If you decide to sell it wouldn't be a bad idea to advertise on here as you'll be aiming straight for your target audience.. however people can be very picky. Generally they are also aware of a cars value. Remember to really highlight the good points and just be honest.

Expect people on here to ask for loads of pictures.

As for ebay.... sometimes good cars can go for silly money but be prepared for non paying bidders.

You can also decat a J reg GSi.... so some may see them as more valuable than a K reg.

MOT it for more value. I wouldnt buy a Nova without 'ticket' unless I wanted a shell/project.

BIG Thanks to everyone for the Good Advice. after reading everyones comments i think i will MOT it and get it back on the road, even if i have to eat beans on toast for 3 months!
and then maybe one day i'll let it go, maybe not
