just a machine shop to do them,
they can cut them easy as,

depending on what 4 pots they are you can probably buy them already done, but they are just simple brackets and thus would be quite easy to make some up.

glad i've seen this post as i'm contiplating the same thing, but on an astra gsi, been offered 356mm front discs with modified jaguar xkr calipers really cheap, but ther ment for a escort cossie.

and what do you do about a master cylinder when running 4pots does anyone kno?

master cyl should be fine, you may get a spongey pedal of you have the smaller version (not GTE eyc)

But why do you want 4 pots? Unless you are tracking it or running a few horses, why bother?

You'll need some rather large wheels (>18") to get over that - I had to go to 18x7.5 to clear my 315mm discs and 4 pot calipers (thats the standard brakes btw!), and still needed 8mm spacers even after choosing very specific wheels with spokes designed to clear big calipers - now only have about 2mm max space between caliper and wheel spokes! lol

I hope the Astra has good suspension :D

yea this set up requires 18s+ aswell, won't actually need stoppers that big, but the monster brakes look so good, still continplatin the idea at the mo,

i'll have brakes bigger than some of my mates wheels lol

what was your 315mm set up on?

what was your 315mm set up on?
*is, present tense lol - its on my GT4, as said the standard stuff.

356mm would be 14" discs? lol ace

have to say there is no real need for huge 4pot brakes on a nova... even for track use.....

My car which is of similar weight and pace to a 2.0 16V nova has 2pot up front with V small pads and the rock.

Brake lines dont "need" to be braided, but it would help.

yep they are massive!!!! :D

and comes with 12inch rear discs that use standard rear calipers,

my mates sellin them cheap after an abandoned project, they're all brand spankin new awel!

I modded some Volvo 240 4-pots to fit onto my capri legs on the front of the nova...And they even fit behind 14" wheels.

i was just looking at smaller brakes realy but i want good ones! so was thinking if i could get small 4pots like, wouldnt mind running my car on 13's or 14's but i dont want to sacrafice braking to do it.

what size discs etc fit behind 13's?

also is the part where the brakeline conects to the calliper the same on 4pots as it is on my 16v ones?

anyone now of any small 4pots i can look up then?

Stuart

you can make the lotus AP two pots fit on nova hubs...

the brake line fitting will be the same, you may need a different banjo bolt though but thats it.

why exactly do you want uber brakes? what purpose are you using them for? that can help spec the right stuff without going overboard

right well im going to be using the car on the track, ot sure how much yet tho lol, im on 16v at the min, but i want smaller so i can fit smaller wheels.

wouldnt mind getting brakes that fit under 13's, but i want good ones lol, will small 4pots be as good as my 16v's?

any help welcome, lew

depends on the 4pots in question.. lol

I have seen Revolution RFX's fit over 16v brakes, and in a few cases fit over 4 pots (but i think the calipers and discs were some obsuce offset back)

For my nova i had planned on using std GSI ATE 236*20mm discs/calipers and mintex 1155 pads.

Imho you could use 4 pots with some crappy pads and have worse braking than the baby valver brakes with good pads and discs...
Could be worth some experimenting really... ie gsi calipers +decent discs and pads will cost what ?100-150ish, if they do the job well then score, if not then atleast you know.

What wheel size are you on now? i know that 15" and 13" track spec tyres are easier/better value to get hold of than 14" variants

yeh im on 15's at the minute, i realy wouldnt mind going to 13's even if there just the track wheels/tyres etc

might try out a decent nova GSI set up then.

also, in the near future (if i dont do it while its off the road) i want to valver the car, what would be the smallest brakes able for that. also im looking into a bias pedal box. would that improve braking much?
