Hey there i finally got my car back on the road with much thanks to Dod and novaload for putting me in touch with him. I now have a 1.6gte t40 nova and im looking forward to tunning it to the max but i need your help.
I got the carbs nall setup on a rolling road but was told that im not getting enough spak cos of my old standard distributer, coil and dodgey leads. So instead of getting a new stantard one can i get an upgrade with plenty of spark to keep my carbs well litt. Any help with what to get and were to get them please and what shud be the next step for tunnig ???

Coil supplies the spark, not the dizzy...

Are you using a 1.4Sr dizzy and coil setup?

That will be fine, Dan uses that on his 150bhp 1.6 8v.....

Just get a replacement one, it will be fine.
1.6sv uses same coil/dizzy as 1.4sr iirc, so all's good.

A motor factors could maybe get hold on a re-conditioned one, probably cost about ?120 ish tho.
It should come with a new cap etc.

Whats the problem with yours? You sure its that causing the problem.

pmsl at you lot, Mine is sat at a proud 140bhp (ish). i bracket the ish as figures are nonsense anyway in my mind and i have mine built/set for lowdown grunt rather than a maxpower high bhp figure. The main thing is its a nice low figure that alot of so say more powerful variants have trouble matching ;)

The easiest option if your distributor is knackered is the 1.4sr option as mentioned. i have run this for years now and had no problems at all
