Wil the destributor cap be the same on a GSI to one on a 1.2merit carb? If so can they be swapped? if not what would be the consiquence of swapping them?

Depends if there the same cap, some had different ht leads.

there were 3 types of caps fitted to nova's 2 black and 1 orange , so if its the same then you can swap it :thumb:

It was just random as to what dizzy etc were fitted to gsi, gte.
Some have black, some had red/orange.

Going by his wanted posted, he needs a whole dizzy, not just the cap.
So to answer the question, no a gsi dizzy is no good for a 1.2 carb engine.
