View Full Version : screwed tyre
I found a screw through one of the tread blocks on one of my rear tyres which is causing it to lose pressure (albeit slowly) Is this repairable (with a patch) or will I need to replace the tyre? The tyre is pretty much new, with the ghey kuhmo writing still legible on the centre of the tread face, hence why I dont want to buy just a new one.

If its more towards the centre of the tyre on a flat area then it is repairable coz the patch they use can stay in position.
if its closer to the tyre wall or on the corner then it wont be repairable as the patch they use will eventually come loose. So I've been told by my local tyre place as I have been in the same situation.
best thing is to go to a tyre garage and get em to have a look they can tell you straight up
Apparent if its gone in straight through in the centre 3/4 it can be repaired, but it can't be repaired on the edge, sidewall, or if the nail/screw has gone through at an angle.
Get it sorted ASAP! I had a 3" nail hit my rear pass tyre last week at 70mph, its a s**t your pants moment lol
What size tyre is it? A punctuare repair is mostly around ?15, some new tyres aren't much more than that, and then you know the repair ain't going to give up on you on the motorway....
lol it depends mate its supposed 2 be in the centre but i had 1 today in a Audi tt tyre and when i looked at it, 2 me seemed illegal 2 repair but i put the chart on it and it said it was legal lol go to kwik fit or summat or Lowes Garage in Kinver and see me lol :D
its a 185 55 14 Kumho Ecsta KU31 - 38.90 a piece on mytyres (but then you gotta buy two). I reckon the tyre place will be a bit more than 38.90, hopefully they can repair it, Im not driving the car at the moment so its ok!!
lol ?39 pound tyres i wish mine were only ?39 more the double that at the min
just take it down to the local tyre place and see , they can do most positions now so you will prob get it sorted
lol ?39 pound tyres i wish mine were only ?39 more the double that at the min
Fook, what size tyres? Lol
I paid ?40 a for a 15" fitted, balanced etc.
195/45/16 ;)
Used to be loads cheaper than 195/40 when i had 16s.
?50 fitted i had 16s for.
lol but 195/40 scrub like a bitch lol so i dont think 45 will be any use lol

as long as its not on the 'shoulder' of the tyre its repairable. the plug used will not stick down if its on the curved part and you will need a new one unfortunately
