Evening all,

I will probably be geting new shocks and lowering the Nova, finally, around after xmas before new year time when i get paid.

Whilst they have the shocks and springs out what other things can be changed at the same time with minimal digression from the main job. Stuff that would be knackered after 21 years, Im thinking bushes nothing special just OE spec.

Considering this as the place I am taking it to get the stuff fitted has given me a good price so if its cheap enough will get other stuff done too.

cheers :thumb:

bottom arms with uprated bushes? or why not go the whole hog and drop a red top in it?

Depends how much your wanting to spend ?
Poly Bushes, Top mounts, Track rod ends, Bottom ball joints, then get it all tracked up, that should tighten up the front end a bit & should 'feel' alot better as well.

If the bushes are fine, thers no point in changing them (chances are theyl have been changed at some point anyway)

Fit an Anti-Roll-Bar if you dont already have one

Takes 10mins and makes a huge difference to the handling.

Check all mounts/bushes and replace as necesarry.....

I dont think any have been changed at all as its been in the family for 15 years and the previous owner had it from 6 years and the reciepts I have of all the stuff done on the car from the previous owner dont mention bushes.

I know for a fact that since we have had the car nothing like that has been done this is why i asked. I dont think they are in a particularly bad condition they are OK.

Just dont want to get the suspension changed if in a couple years down the road the bushes need doing. Considering tie rod ball joint (bros cav needs this so its making me think) and the control arm ball joint.

Thus starts the great ARB debate once more!!!
I took my 20mm ARB off the front (I left the back one on) once I'd uprated the shocks anmd springs. It felt like the front ones were being restricted in their movements, I took it off and it feels a lot less nervous now!!!

ARB is only needed on std suspension imo

anything uprated and i dont mean springs on std shocks lol doesnt need one

The car will be on Eibach Pro-Kit and KYB Excel G shocks, wouldnt really call the shocks standard.

If the weather holds well tomorrow then i'll probably go inspect the tie rod ball joint and the control arm ball joint to see what they are like and make a decision. :thumb:

Whatever you do, change the top mounts while you have the suspension off. Anything else, change after inspecting them if theyre knackered.

Id leave the ARB on unless you have coileys IMO.
