little bit of progress
re did my arches with underseal (the black stuff) does look alot tidier, would like to have them painted but i think this option is alot more practical.
also took off the badges on the tailgate and the side strips looks alot better now in my opinion.
gsi interior comes next weekend so i'll get an update when thats in
also picked up some cavalier gsi rims. had them on my corsa and think they are so effective on subtley (sp) styled vauxs so going with them again and also having them painted vaux anthracite again without the laquer.
they will be getting refurbed this week hopefully as theyre in a right state at the moment,
just a few pics from my phone

what is the waxoyl like? and how do you apply it? do you paint the underneith and wheel arches first then put it on, or just after youve cleand it?
looks mint anyway mate, nice nova to start with.
How did i miss this thread? Good work fella, nice to see someone doing the essentials before doing the fun bits!

bought gsi interior yesterday, thanks to the lads at GMH cheadle stoke on trent. set of top lads there. really pleased with the interior, little dusty and almost mint, little bit of repair to be done on drivers seat, will be having the repair work done by leathertech. lad at GMH had his MK2 GTE out for a wash and also a very tidy 1.2 luxe gsi kit, speedlines and 40's was cool.pics of interior will be up later

fitted a few main parts of my interior today, dash, front seats and some of the black trim. found that the switch just left of the column was exactly right for the choke, so removed the switch and put the choke there:thumbs:

done a few bits today,
i was going to get the rims refurbed professionally but thought i would give it ago myself. 2 are primed and 2 have yet to be primed. the edges have come out a treat so im fairly chuft with them so far. i also decided that the bumpers and skirts and possibly wheels are going to be painted ford matt grey. i got some things primed:thumb:

15-01-07, 06:19 PM
lovely nova that -- makes me want one more and more (than i already do :))
Are you spraying with spray cans?
As i couldn't find Ford Matt Grey in a spray can anywhere, tried all local motor factors, Halfords etc.
Wheels look good, i wouldn't go for a matt colour on wheels tho, matt finish gets easily scratched/marked. I'd go for something glossy that you can laquer to protect.
bieransri
15-01-07, 06:58 PM
i used rattle cans to prime them yea, although i might use a gun to paint em with, had matt antracite on the old cav rims and was ok so gonna try for matt grey
purchasing these, going to get them refurbed and painted anthracite, opinions?

finally some progess:thumbs:
mistrals had been primed for a while now along with the side skirts, but not been able to decide what colour i wanted them. decided on hurricane grey.:|
however yesterday i went to my local bodyshop suppliers and asked for hurricane grey, but i wanted it to have a matt finish. the guy told me i couldnt have hurricane grey with a matt effect as the paint type and the matting agent were two different types of paint.
in the end he showed me loads of paint chips and decided on a colour not sure what car/make it was off but its exactly what i wanted.
so for anyone around stoke on trent looking for paint or any supplies give B & S Supplies a call. Paul there is a top guy helped me out loads, even stayed after they were ment to be shut to sort this paint out for me:thumbs:
B & S Supplies number is 01782 819638:D

started my back bumper today,
bought some high build primer
went over the whole thing with panel wipe then flatted it with 800's to key the surface
then applied plastic primer
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a45/nova_7/678117.jpg
note novelty bin and sheet standlol
let that dry and started to apply high build primer, ive used a full 500ml tin, given it about 5-6 coats. think its got the texture gone now:thumb:

03-02-07, 06:46 PM
Give it a week to dry properly and most of it'll come back once the thinners have evaporated.
bieransri
03-02-07, 06:57 PM
does it have thinners in it already? straight out of the tin? as i spoke to me cousin who is a painter by trade said that you dont mix it up, use it straight out of the tin? so i did, so i havent put extra thinners in
mikey14sr
03-02-07, 07:06 PM
yep, spray cans have the thinners mixed in inside, thats why you need to shake them up to get an even coverage.
bieransri
03-02-07, 07:08 PM
i didnt use spray cans, bought a tin of it and used my gun/compressor:thumb:
Nice paint stand,Lol.
Ye, high build does take a fair while dry.
Out a gun fills the texture fine, so i've been told.
How much was the primer?
mikey14sr
03-02-07, 08:06 PM
i didnt use spray cans, bought a tin of it and used my gun/compressor:thumb:
Ahh, I thought you had. It will have gone on nice and thick then, give it a few days to dry off and go at it with the 800 again before putting color on;)
I need a compressor and spray gun :( Lol
Works out miles cheaper than buying rattle cans.
