My car drinks the stuff !!! (OIL) I run it on Mobil 1 which ainth cheap, Im also running Slick 50 through it.

It doesn't smoke at all and its not leaking because I park in the same two places, all day and all night and theres no oil in the garage or in my car parking space at work !!

It's not really a major problem, just an inconvenience and bloody expensive !

any ideas ?

try changing your oil type and see if it makes a difference. Try the semi synthetic stuff Vauxhall use.

I run MObil 1 coz u cant beat it. Its really good stuff, but because its thin, u get through it very quick. Small quantities burn without u noticing. I switched to the Mobil 1 Motorsport which is 10w50 and It was much better and was quieter at high temps. It doesnt lubricate quite so well from cold though.

Mobil 1 does leak, but it is damn good at its job. I change my oil every 3,000 miles and after a while the oil was still transparent at each change. When I stripped my engine down, everything was spotless and there wasn`t a sign of any crap in the sump. Cheaper oils break down quicker and leave deposits. I was adding about an extra litre during each 3,000 miles so it wasn`t too bad.

I used magnetec GTX for basic engines butr i've just swopped over to some thicker stuff, my stem seals r fooked so its like a claped out ford when u put ur foot down after idling! Or u can see the haze if ur doin 110mph up the motorway with ur m8 chassin! Make the biatch choke!! lol

I do about 400 miles a week, and I do a full service at least once every 5 or 6 months max. I put about a litre of oil in each weekend. ?

With GTX Magnetex, my oil stays clear. Slightly discoloured instead of the original pail colour, but certainly not black like in my old Nova!

Thats more to do with frequency of change, and general condition of engine than brand name.
