Got a temporary idea, depending on how good it turns out, to help make the Nova dials a bit more illuminated as at the moment they are bad at the best of times lol

Was thinking to glue individual LED's to the outer ring of the each dial and the wire them up so they illuminate each dial directly rather then 6 measly bulbs/LEDS to light up the whole thing.

here is a quick illustration:

The blue circles are LED's (shown below) glued to the outer dial face :D

What would be the easiest way to wire up all these individual LED's?

This will be done to each dial i.e: Volt, Oil. Temp, Fuel, Rev, Speedo.

Thanx peeps :thumb:

lol sounds a cool idea

getting complicated but it would be even better if the speedo and rev counter ones only lit up when the needle was inline with the light lol ie..your doing 60mph so 6 lights would be lit..from 0mph upto the 60mph mark..!

now that would be impressive!

Yeh i was actually thinking about that but its gonna take a lot of work which I dont really wanna do if it means going in and out of the cold to test if it works.

May just do this easier idea and fighure out how to make it more flash for when the weather is better.

it will take alot of work and might not get the desired effect you want tbh.

it could be more hassle than its worth.

if youwant to be different. why not make your own dash. i.e make cut outs of the dials and place over perspex, neon light underneath, new pins so you can see what they point too, hard to explain but i might take it up for a laugh, give me something to do in work!! lol

Yeh I was thinking the same but thought this would be a lot easier to do just a case of wiring up.

Removing needles off dials is annoying as you completely loose the configuration of the dial. I once removed a needle off my fuel gauge and it completely went off rthe scale was reading incorrectly I was lucky I had my old dials and had to see where that was indicating to put back the needle in the correct position.

Are they aimed in your face? :wtf:

Get a set of cav/astra dials and put some diffused LEDs in - should get this effect:

No they are not aimed at the face. Wont be able to see them as they will be behind the surround once the lens is fitted back on to the binnacle. The surround will cover all the outer edge of the dials.
