ok ive been offered a white mk2 nova for ?75. so i snapped it up asap, so now i have 2 lol. 13 and own 2 novas. not too bad eh lol

so this nova will have a stripdown, either mk2 gsi gront or mk1 gte/sr looks. but id like a gsi mk2 lol.

bodywork-wise its mint- no rot in the arches factory condition battery tray but abit of rust on the rear arches but its only were the paint has cracked due to them bieng rolled.

it has a 1.0l engine with 47tho on the clock, so its kind of sweet running.

took it out today for a spin around my dads private yard, got its smooth, it sounds really nice and doesnt blow any blue smoke atall.
so ill update this once i finally get it, it will be after xmas before anything is done

30-12-06, 10:10 PM
UPDATE!!!

after 2 days trying to fit the new colum, my dad told me that the sheer pins had snapped, the 1s that snap and retract the steering wheel so you dont hit it, so i was going to orser a new one from vauxhall, but then thought ill just get my old 1 off my blue mk1 in the scrapyard, so i went for a trip down, it was gutted to fcuk, nothing left barely, and it still had the www.novaload.net (http://www.novaload.net) stickers in the window lol

so after fitting the new colum i was going to wash it, then as i put it into reverse, PING BOING!!!! the gear leaver snapped in reverse so i had to stall it out of gear, nearly hit the garage door lol, it snapped on the ball joint at the bottom, just snapped in two

after that i had to go yet again to the scrappy and get the gear stick off the blue one, it will be fitted tuesday.

then i set about changing the locks, the drivers door was easy but the passengers had been "superglued on" as it didnt have the metal clip at the back, so after alot of gentle prising and no damage to the doors it came free
boot, ignition + petrol cap were easy

also i need a steering colum ignition shroud as i snapped mine getting it on lol

WILL GET PICS FOR TUESDAY BUT IF WE HAVE TO GO BEFORE THEN THEN YOU ALL MIGHT BE IN LUCK LOL

Dave.
30-12-06, 10:30 PM
just a quick one i took earlier

Dave.
01-01-07, 06:53 PM
just got back from the garage, the car us going to my grandmas tomorrow, unfortunatley its going outside on the path but shouldnt be too worried about rot, might get one of those big car bubble garages lol

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC00091.jpg

unfortunatley this week the car had to go from the garage, so it went to my grandmas!! unfortunatley its on the path outside but eventually itll go into the garage, the garage holds a 1933 forb model b, one of 5 left and 3 are in a museum. might post a pic up soon of it, its a real beauty, anyway its on there for ages now as granny doesnt need the space

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC00092.jpg

Dave.
03-01-07, 04:57 PM
also as i went to the scrap yard to get my steering shroud, guess what was there, my blue mk1, so i snapped afew pics for you all, it had chain marks through the roof a huge dent in the roof and no seats and dash

just get it to look loiek a gsi at the mo, not much

allways liked that kawasakki green nova tho, looks top notch

anyway i saw a post on for sale yesterday about a sr rear spoiler, so i bought it, i knew the gut rayond (cheers again matey) as i bought a grill for my mk1 off him, so i was going to ask him to post it but it was too big, so very kindly he set off at 7pm the same night that i bought it and traveled a total of 80 miles just to deliver it to me, what a mate he is, so all in all about 2hrs after the for sale post was up, the spoiler was in my shead and it was down as sold, not bad eh? only ?30 and its a rubber one aswell, so its very light :thumb:

heres some pics of it, might go and get another in a hour or two

novacabrio
09-01-07, 11:12 PM
Buy some gsi bits or some thing not silly small bits, maybe a gsi bumper, skirts etc and have them pro fitted and painted

Nazza's Nova
09-01-07, 11:15 PM
it doesnt take a pro to fit a gsi bumper the skirts maybe the spoilers are easy to fit

NOV4_SPORT
09-01-07, 11:18 PM
yeh but you want a top quality job, and the bumper will have more affect. than lights imo

Dave.
09-01-07, 11:25 PM

Stop thieving my ideas lol

I'd say half red half clear. You can usually pick up a set of clears off ebay for pennies, little bit of chopping and you're away. Would have done that on mine but cba lol

Nazza, that white nova IS an MOT fail btw - no rear reflectors :p

Really? the first person I emailled said yes, 10 euros delivery lmfao

Do a search from ebay.co.uk for sellers located in Europe. That will pick up all the ones willing to ship to the UK. Ask them in English too, you'll probably find if you used Babelfish or something your question "will you ship to the UK" came out as "I eat shoes from the UK" or something queer lol

I may be wrong but I think you'll find they are headrests from a Cav GSI 3000. I was looking at 2 sets (black or grey) in a scrapyard and wondered if the grey were the same colour as my leather interior.

finally fixed the aerial this weekend, all it was was that someone had cut the old one out, but left the old aerial lead in, so i plugged the one that wasnt connected into the radio, and the other aerial lead was just dangling inside the wing, lol

anyway, my good friend who works for my dad called pete tcut'ed and polished it with me all day, then i back to blacked the bumpers and grab handle, and it looks stunning now

looks good dave. I would get it lowered and the pin stripe taken off the side and de-badge it. Get a GSI Bumper fired on and a gsi spoiler, it will look really cool after that! Not saying its not cool just now but it would make it look a lot better! looks better than mine. ha ha.

Dave.
26-03-07, 05:17 PM
haha, the stripe is pretty gay, and it does need lowering, but i would only get a gsi bumper if it was the grey, as i couldnt match the paint, although i do like the normal bumper thats on it now, got a spoiler ready to go on, and hopefully got a sr interior coming soon!!

good:
removed the dent from the boot, panel beating
hoovered the intrior and sorted out my boot

bad:
clutch has started making the legendary vauxhall sound, sounds like a squeeky hinge on a door

illegal tread on 2 front tyres (oopsy shouldnt of been wheelspinning) has about 1mm left

anyway here are some snap shots, hopefully tomorrow rayond is coming down with his sr interior for me, and we are going to have a little photoshoot

Good luck in finding one. Took me about a year to source one from German ebay.

Thats if you want one to fit the bonnet, you could buy a flat one from the back of a Vectra but it'll look ghey and fall off lol

well, froday started with the old boot coming off and the sri one going on, took abit of prising to come off, but then it finally came off, then i swapped the handle and lock round, but i couldnt find a 8mm spanner, doh! so i had to go out and buy a new socket set for 1 spanner. anyway it went on, and it looks bloody brilliant, by far one of the best things ive done to it by far, heres some pics

Mileage is pretty much irrelevant.

You could kill a engine in about 10miles, with lack of oil etc.

But another could last 200k miles, with regular servicing.

Blue smoke is oil burning, piston rings, stem seals, head gasket.

17-04-07, 09:52 PM
mine's does the same. will keep her going til she blows up though. got plenty spare engines. ha ha.

Dave.
17-04-07, 10:04 PM
oil is brand new, when i got it was on just ofer the min level, but ive run it for a while with it up to the max on oil, new rotar arm has been put in, only really smokes under hard acceleration

Mikey_J
17-04-07, 10:07 PM
Has it had this problem since you've had the car, or has it only just started doing it? If its just driven around a yard all the time you're going to get problems...probably just needs a good blast out on the road though

Dave.
27-04-07, 09:15 PM
well today after school i went down to the garage to work on the nova, went to the scrappy and got a passenger side heater blower pipe, and a set of red wing mirrors.

pipe went in noproblem, then i set about doing the mirrors

started at about 4pm, sanded them down with wet and dry paper and then gave them a once over with hot water,

then i primered when using grey plastic primer, just so the red doesnt bleed through the white.

anyway heres the pics of them up to now.

well today when i got into work i started by sanding down the primer with wet and dry paper, took about 20 mins

then had a hour break lol

then i went to my local motor factors and got some glacier white spray paint, only ?3! bargin
got back to the garage and started to spray, got 1 runoff on the drivers mirror, so sanded that down and started again.
then after afew layers of paint and a while to dry, they were ready, the passenger side one went on easy but the drivers took abit of wriggling, anyway im extreamly happy with the result, it now looks like a sr.
