i would say around 300-500 for decent 2.0 16v and gearbox, and fitted around 300 for a garage to fit it, unless you know someone who maybe could, ( i do and they can fit one for ?80). as your 15 though i think it would be abit much to do and money wise would be abit much maybe, but would obviously have the ex over a 1.2 anyday of the week....

1, You'll never insure a 2.0l Nova @ 17
2, It'll be to fast for you and you'll probly end up killing your self or someone else !!
Don't wanna sound like a spoil sport but think about it, young inexperienced driver & fast car = bad things !!
Leave it as a 1.2 untill you can actually drive !!

just keep it as 1.2 on logbook so you can insure it and be sensible when using the right pedal! lol

ROFL you sir, are an idiot lol

If you have a 2.0 but logged as a 1.2, your insurance will be void (undeclared modification) - your policy doesn't cover the car you're driving, therefore you have no insurance.

Seriously though, if you are going to put an XE in, change the logbook. Even the slowest county mounties will think something is up when they see a mahoosive engine under the bonnet, and their database shows a 1.2. Not to mention the MOT man's computer telling him it should be a 1.2... And insurance assors will notice the undeclared engine when they pull the wreck from whatever hedge/car/wall/ditch/elephant you decide to crash into. They'll look for any and every reason to avoid a payout, and undeclared mods voids your policy - which could land you with an IN10 conviction (insurance companies won't touch you with a barge pole in the future), loss of license, massive fine and in worst case possibly a prison sentence!

Best option, leave the 1.2 in there and concentrate on getting other stuff sorted instead. At least wait til you're 19 to put an XE in, by that time you'll have everything ready for it to drop in. Judging by the way things are going, even off road cars will probably need insuring soon, so its not like you can just leave it uninsured til you're 19+ either.

My first car was a 1.2 IMO thats plenty of "power" for a new driver.

How many valvers do you see on ebay that say..."still a 1.2 on the log book"
I think it should actually be against the law to sell a car without an updated/accurate log book.

It probably is; some form of fraud no doubt. And DVLA do say you have to notify them of any changes to the vehicle...

Would definately be a grey area i think.
As there would obviously be a delay between fitting the engine and sending the log book.
