Anything is possible if you have the time and money. Just depends if you have the motivation to carry it out.

2 litre Lotus engine?

What car is that from?

SRlew

not sure what car he took it from to be honest.

i can see another project coming on here lol that boot idea sounds good!

I can't think of a 2 litre lotus, other than the Europa, which uses a Z20LEsomething.

If it's a 1.8, its a K-series, which would be a BAD idea lol

2.2 Lotus Twink would be too big to go in I reckon :(

But I might be completely forgetting a 2 litre car, with an engine which might well be ideal lol

lotus cortina?

Excel was the 2.2 16v Slant 4, as found in the Lotus Sunbeam.

Similar in design to the Chevette HSR / Firenza HP engine, but totally unrelated lol.

It won't fit, not in a million years, unless you go RWD.

1.6, and I doubt the guy would be giving one away, they sell for LOADS

Or an XE from a Lotus Seven Replica LOL

RobMarriott

Elan was the same as the Cortina.

It might not even be from a road car lol, it could be a very special development engine or something!

Elan was a 1600 ish Isuzu Turbo engine anyway, forgot that lol!!

Asa-James

could be a new-ish elise with the toyota engine, then again, its still a 1.8

Nowt wrong with the VVTL-i engines, 190bhp and can buy an off the shelf supercharger for them :D

ABI lists Lotus 2.0's as Eclat 520-4, Esprit S1/S2/GT3, Elite 501-4 and Europa S - all dated from early - mid 70's to 1980 aside from the Esprit GT3 (>96) and Europa S (>06).

Oh, that Elan. The original 60s one was a 1600 twincam 8v iirc.

The Esprit had a 2 litre I think, but its not a very good engine.

If its a 2l see if the lotus head will go on 2l vauxhall bottom end. The lotus head is meant to be better than the 16v one.

technically it could be "any" engine as lotus have done tons and tons of consulting work on head design...... its like the muppets taht sell a coscast head a a cosworth racing head.. Ie someone heard something down the pub about a part of the engine being designed at lotus and they thing the entire engine must be a race one lol.... but im willing to be proved wrong ;)

the Z22se was designed by lotus becasue GM couldnt be ****d to do it themselves..... does that make my 147bhp wikkkid? lol

Ive often wondered if the 1500 turbo Elan lump (ISUZU) would go in on TD mounts?

Some 80s Loti (you like my pluralisation there?!) used Toyota engines (or at least Toyota parts) didnt they? Early eclats definitely used slant 4s though so im not sure how they would fit a Nova bay.
