View Full Version : One loon, four doors, an XE...... and omfg, it's still there, and now it runs again!!
hi all just got my saloon home from the bodyshop where i work after a few long nights and just thought i,d put some pics up to see what you all think.The front panel is,nt sprayed because i,ve still got some welding to do and get it all seam welded then the full bay will be geting painted.I carnt make my mind up on wheels either do you think i should put speedlines on or 16'' softstars which ever i choose hey will getting sprayed anthracite.

now then craig the colour is arden blue from the mk4 astra and zafira GSi and martin the XE has just been deliverd with the full conversion kit :D
nice but why didnt you do the 2 door up instead of the 4??
ohh the 2 door looks nice, i like the fact your building a 4door aswell

Lookin good. Like that colour. Shouldve dehandled the fr doors IMO, but thats gettin expensive with poppers etc.

i,m quite lucky i work in bodyshop with a very kind boss but he did get stressed a bit when it was striped down in my valet bay for 3 weeks lol.I,m also taking my engine out this weekend (depending on weatherlol) and preping it for seam welding and painting,then after xmas i,ll be able to put my redtop in :D and finish the outside off and start on the inside

what is it like working in a bodyshop? is the money good? obviously there are loads of advantages if you are into cars. im just wondering as im fed up with working in a builders merchant and fancy a change.

right guys i,ve got a bit of a dilema now i,ve just bought a nova 3 door hatch with a redtop in and full conversion kit so i could transfer it onto my 4door.I,ve now hit a brick wall because i,m unsure what to do,shall i tidy a few bits and pieces up on the hatch make it mint and use that or strip it and finish my 4 door off.So i might sell the 4door and keep the hatch just wondered what you guys think as i really need your opinions as its doin my head in now its getting me really stressed so PLEASE help me and i,ll post some pics up later of the hatch

Remove the good bits off the hatch and put on the saloon. Makes sense.

Hi all, as you all no my nova just made it to billing this year with a few finishing touches being done on the friday morning.As it got sprayed in january of this year it still hasnt been flatted and machine buffed yet and theres a few imperfections on the bodywork still.So this is where it starts again THE REBUILD NUMBER 2 :laugh: , shes going to be getting a few changes over the winter months and an increase in power :wink: ready for the 2008 season.She will be going for another trip into the bodyshop shortly after xmas and i,ll be doing most of the other things my self but i,ll be keeping you all posted on my progress on here and it started of with me buying one of these to keep my nova warm and dry over the winter months

He's bought a 5 door luxe+, the leccy windows from it are going into the saloon.
right,its been a long time since my last update but its been stood since september and not been started once lol.So i went out to it on saturday to few bits and to see if she would go and she went first turn of the key with no problems
lined up for her this next couple of months is an other full respray,4 new doors,new bonnet,new o/s/wing,nw wheels,and some carbs/throttle bodies? but im not sure which ones yet lol but now ive got a new camera i,ll be updating this thread more regular

Shouldnt you be wearing a mask. last time i did spraying without a mask i was blowing out blue paint from my nose for a whole day! I used to have a nova 4 door saloon gorgous thing! to much rust and someone went in to it when doing a 3 point turn! wish i had of seen would of gone nuts! the was a slight mishap over winter thats forced a full respray.. should be back better then ever rob..
btw yes CF cover was from ebay

yeah it was but its a shade lighter now and as martin said i had a couple of misshaps over winter which resulted in the repaint;)

It was painted in a proper booth at robs work, but then after he made a makeshift garage from a wedding marquee, it was destroyed in really bad wind and collapsed on the nova, warranting another full respray in about 2009, it went back into the garden afterwards, and has sat there ever since :cry:

A trip down to see Hendrix revealed we had some random inlet manifold (one ive never seen before) and it was completely wrong!
A donated correct manifold and a couple of other bits we went back to crack on removing the manifold we'd just fitted, leaving us with this..

So we cracked back on with swapping the injectors and fuel rails and getting the new maifold on, so much easier and fitted much better than the one that had come off, but not many more pics were taken..

As she now sits, we need some joining pipes to trim and connect the fuel lines, battery fitting up and the loom connecting, some bolts for the SFi box as we havent got any, and tbh, that really is about it!
Another day of mincing and i reckon she will be ready to run again, im actually in shock as she hasnt run since late 2007 :eek:
