Don't supose you could make it loose by skimming loads off the head could you ? When you fit turbo and compression plate it makes the belt too short on some engines, could be the same principle but the other way round?

Your gonna have to move the water pump, it`s a shit design but that`s haow they`re made. Can`t you just replace the gasket/seal? (don`t know personally as I`ve never moved one)

i hate nova water pumps!! who doesnt put a water pump close to the radiator? fin' vauxhall thats who!
ive had a play, 13belt was rite 12 belts have rounded teeth and 14 belt too big.
but cant i just replace water pump gasket? instead of putting new pump in cos the water pump is sat by me just now :D dont wanna buy more parts :( change of gasket not do the job????

sorry paul, about skimmed head i had a prob putting new cam housing on it was very awkward to fit. it sound like the head of my sr is skimmed? 13belt is rite for it but too slack as it is and cam housing and cam was bitch to put on and match timing with?
sound like head could be skimmed? ne way of checking for this?
i aint as dumb as i sound from this post peeps i just ask lots of questions :D

The only way to check if the head has been skimmed is to measure the deck height (total height of head)very accurately and compare it to the standard dimensions, but i don't know what it should measure?
