would i need to use a chassis strengthening kit on a gte,its putting out about 140bhp,its running 40 dcoe's,285 cam etc?i have a hockley kit from a previous unfinished project, but i dont fancy pulling out the engine to weld in the kit if its not really needed?

If you can be bothered it will help keep the shell more rigid. You get better steering feedback & just generally clutch at straws & reel in every handling refinement possible, but as you have said its not quite worth the hassle unless you love to tinker...
