View Full Version : Brake problem
Hi. I've got a 92 1.2 nova and i've got a problem with the brakes on it.
The problem is that when I start the car, the brakes are really spongey but when its off, the pedal is hard as it should be and it does stop without the servos assistance (but not as well as to be expected). I've bled the system and its got new discs and pads on the front.
Has anyone got any ideas as to what it could be?
Any help would be great!
check youve put the callipers back together properly. If a bolts not tight it might be taking up the brake pressure elsewhere.
Also bear in mind new pads do feel squishy for a while.

Mite be being stupid but why would that make the spongy when its running and hard when its not?
there hard when its not running as the servo doesnt have any vacuum assistance. Its perfectly normal. See if they fell better after a few days, as long as the cars stopping ok and the pedals not creeping to the floor they sound fine.
as said, new pads feel V ropey for the first few stops/days.....
unless you take the keen bedding in process ;)
i fitted new discs and pads to the astra on sat, the pedal still feels a little odd, but its getting better.

the pedal is creeping to the floor but only when it is runnig with vacuum assistance. I was thinking its a problem with the servo
