I just took delivery of a Black M plate Corsa SRi (1400 8v - C14SE) tonight.

As i rolled my starlet last week i was looking for a new car/project and i reckon ive hit the nail on the head this time.

Its solid - sills, front crossmember, chassis legs, boot floor, scuttle area and strut tops are all solid as they day they were made.

It needs, headgasket, N/S Door glass, bonnet, 2x tailights and a starter. (and a reet good polish:thumb:) Panels arent the prettiest but itl clean up!

Of course MOT and tax too.

Gonna start stripping it down to the shell over the next week or two to inspect further.

Il try and fire some pics up soon too.

Interior is mint, wheels are mint. So even if it goes tits up i could break it and make my money back.

Already got some Gmax (not great but ok) suspension for it.

Tempted by a 1600 16v conversion.......

That would be an c16xe IIRC. Can get a healthy power hike out of these engines with the right mods.

Dunno what the c16xe engine is like but from past experience with the x14xe the head gasket is a weak spot, few lads i know have had this problem.

Tonight i suddenly got the notion to work on the corsa (in the dark/cold/wet)

Fitted new battery, tailights, removed hideous seat covers and rear spoiler (needs new tailgate)

Also fitted new starter motor (while hollering swearwords at it!)

Fired it up, and it runs!!! not very well but at least it runs!

I then went to put petrol in it and was met with a dripping/gushing sound. i looked underneath to see petrol pissing out of the tank. It sems the pipe from the filler neck to the tank has been cut and cable tied back - wierd.

Must still be a bit of fuel in there as it ran for a wee bit.

Also while fitting starter i had a good look underneath for any signs of rot and i can happily say there is none! - front crossmember, chassis legs etc etc are all solid!!

Not bad for a dark nights work lol!

Oh and the B-pillars ARE cracked

Got home from work today, stuck some water in it, fired it up.

Sat with it running for 10-20 mins and everythng became clear - using ****eloads of water, oil looks like its from a rover (hellmans oil) and running like a bag of ****e till it eventually conked out!

Head gasket for deffo!!

At least i know for sure now!

Thatl keep me busy for a while.

Il get pics when its light (i get up, its dark. I come home from work, its dark)

The battery was in my Starlet but i had it on my bench at work - so to save some ****er from half-inching/selling it, i put my name on it. Common practice at my work lol.

STE PORTER - What bits you got for the C14SE bud?

Finally got my finger out and did some fooking work on the Corsa!

Took cylinder head off today ready to be skimmed and ported.

Also purchased,

-Minted 2nd hand black tailgate.
-Short shift linkage
-Opel grille
-24mm diameter Anti-roll bar (from corsa combo van)
-Head gasket and timing belt.

Getting there....

**UPDATE**

With pending court case i thought i should really get my finger out...

-- Took cylinder head to get skimmed, but whilst checking it over we found 5 cracks in it so its a dud...... Easy to get replacement but may just put full engine in as bottom end is a tad rough too.

-- Fitted G-Max shocks and springs (pants, but itl look better than tractor-style suspension - still need to settle though)

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j199/stan_the_man87/26012007459.jpg

-- Fitted boot spoiler to new tailgate (apparently the Corsa is now a 1.2 16v :? )

-- Fecked front bumper while trying to fit Opel grille (bumper isnt a V-Grille style one so had to chop bits out and made a general balls-up of it)

-- De-Tando'd the tailights.

***UPDATE***

On the bus home i suddenly got the notion to crack on with the corsa.

So, in the lovely scottish winter weather i donned my tools and set to work...

I jacked it up.....and it fell off...

Jacked it up again and removed the whole exhaust system to find a very hollow sounding CAT (empty - thats another thing on the shopping list).

Removed fuel tank (****ed two fuel lines too) as most off the filler neck pipes are perished/have been cut.

All in preparation to get engine/box out as ive decided to just stick a new engine in (located a 50,000mile engine, which was out of an auto astra mk3 so has had an easy life, for not much)

Need to remove front tiebars/ARB too and then its a case of dropping the 130,000mile lump out....

***UPDATE***

Been busy today!

Got home and changed into the work clothing (fecked jeans and an old hoody:thumb:) and set about ripping the corsa apart.
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j199/stan_the_man87/02022007517.jpg

Removed front bumper and headlamps to survey the front end for possible rust/rot - and im pleased to say that there isnt any rot, but a bit of rust, as expected but its nothing to wory about!

One hour later the engine, box, shafts and radiator were out too. All single-handedly with only a socket set, two axle stands and a trolley jack.

Need to replace gearbox as two of the mount bolts had been cross-threaded by the previous owner/butcher.

List of needed parts is getting longer....

Engine
Box
Clutch
O/S Headlamp
Front bumper
CAT
Fuel tank pipes
N/S Doorglass

Thats all i can think of off the top of my head...

***UPDATE***

At work today a black Corsa SRi came in for scrapping (engine trouble apparently)

After a good ratch about it, i had dibs on the bonnet and a set of 16" Mille Miglia Evo5's
http://www.millemiglia.co.uk/wheels/front/evo5.jpg
Just the right size for the corsa IMO and should sit nice with the 40mm drop.

So, in total, purchased today:

O/S Headlamp
2X rear Arch trims
SRi Rubstrips and badges from doors/quarters
Bonnet
O/S Wing
16" Alloys
N/S Doorglass

Poss a gearbox too but that will require further inspection.

Slowly getting there......

i need a drive to get on with something :(

whats the court case about ??

Stanley
07-02-07, 06:12 PM
Im being taken to court for when i rolled my Starlet.

Im on 7points as it is and im up for careless driving again.

'.....drove without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the road or public place fail to take proper cognisance of road or weather conditions and reduce speed appropriately before reaching a bend whereby your vehicle left the roadway, mounted a grass verge, collided with adjacent fencing, overturned and come to rest on its roof on the opposite carriageway of the roadway"

No witenesses, they didnt take note of skid lengths etc etc.

Its in my original statement that i swerved to miss an oncomming vehicle but none of that is in my summons.

Went to see solicitor and im going to plead not guilty.

Kinda ****e but i may get off with it....
