The 2.2 cluster does exist but are hard to track down 2nd gear is 2.21. Class 2 Autograss cars arent allowed to run that cluster.

The identity however will be on the endplate of the cluster it will be something like 4.18W or 3.94C. From what I gather though the only way to tell its a 2.2 is to take the cluster out and count the teeth. the figures are on stuarts link.

the last one I saw one eBay made ?125 but it never reached its reserve so expect to pay a few quid if you find one!

If you look at the cluster 1st and 2nd are either side of reverse (the gears with straight teeth). count the teeth on the input shaft then the corrsponding gear it contacts with. you will want a 45 gear on the input and the other will be 23. When I remember I'll check the other CR cluster I have in the garage!

The one I have is 45/21 which according to the chart should be 2.21 but when I work it out its 2.14! You ought to ask someone in your formula what the tooth count is!

btw, if your running a 1300, I have a head you may be interested in, its had 3 angle cut and skim. Let me know if your interested.

I can post it for ?90 or pick up from Hertford for ?80. Its the head & valves and collets etc. There are no spring but if you racing I'd fit new ones any way as you want to reduce valve bonce as much as possible.

I was looking in the EPC last night and spotted that some 1200's do have this illusive 2.21 box, which is a 4 speed jobbie. They are up to code A35221 with a 3.74 diff! The ratios are.

4th rd 2nd rev 1st
32 21 19 11 11
31 30 42 40
0.96 1.42 2.21 0 3.63

Aparently the clusters are worth around 200 quid in oval racing circles!

I'm never simply weighing in a 4speed box again lol

I always thought the one the stadium guys craved was in some Nova TDs. Better start stripping 4speeds from now on lol

Yeah, from EPC they were on 1200 Novas, but I think some of the 4sp MK1 astra's have them in too! They also look like they come fitted with a 3.7 diff.

Old post I know, but for those who are interested in knowing, I've just pulled one out of an Opel Kadette/Mk1 Astra 1.3l and...

It's definitely 42/19 tooth, but came with a 4.18 diff (@garyc> hence me asking you on the yorkshiredales forum if 4.18s were good in Class 2, I'm still building it, but my girlfriend is very patient lol )

Shame that, I scrapped a 4-speed box from a 1.2 a few weeks ago :(.

If its a std engine stick with the 4.1. If not try it and see what it revs too. I thought the cluseter would come out a MK1 astra too. Which inlet \ carb did it have one there? Drop me a PM for more info. Hang on to the cluster as they are on about allowing anything std vaux next year so may be in demand!

It's a single barrel Solex. We're leaving the engine standard for now and if she likes it I'll build a better one or maybe just let her race my class 6. (Note 'maybe' lol )

Lovely long runners on the inlet manifold though :)

I've got another box to use with a 4.18 diff in and a CR cluster, but we're gonna run 14s (South Wales track is Mahoosive now!) and 13s when we race at West Wales. If I find she needs a different diff or a Wide cluster (likely) we will change as and when

Gonna stick the 2.21 cluster on ebay tonight, the money is too tempting!
