advice needed guys and gals

I have been offered a 1.4sri corsa,lowered with full k&n kit and lexus rear light pods , it needs slight bodywork repair and two small inch long welds on the front struts to get through the mot , all this for ?250 .
apparently goes like stink . is this worth it ? i am trying to convince the wife . all views grately recieved . thanks in advance .:confused:
