which leads which? (im a donkey)

ok silly me like a fool tryed diddent number the leads before taking them off and now i cant find which ones which. how the hell do i find out???

ive tried guaging which is the longest and i know the firing sequence is 1-3-4-2 but after a few funny noises and backfires i am still none the wiser.

Cylinders are 1/2/3/4 from timing belt end.

On the dizzy cap, starting with the top right lead, its 1/3/4/2, in a ANTI clockwise direction.
