If you put a carb and inlet off a 1.4SR onto a 1.4SPi would you expect the same bhp output as an SR or is the cam different too? Was offered a strong SPi engine and wondered if there would be much work in making it into an "SR" engine. Are there any sensors etc that would need to be removed or any other SR bits that would need to be fitted such as dizzy etc
Cheers lads

you will need to change fuel pump and fuel lines, as far as i know there will be some difference in the kinds of sensors used but im not sure about that one tbh.

also what shape are the ports on the SR inlet? the 1200 spi heads are square...are 1400s the same?

The SR has a much better cam, and better exhaust downpipe as std.

But yeah, if you fit a 1.4sr inlet and carb, cam, distributor/coil, Sr manifold/downpipe, you will then have a 1.4Sr engine.
Bottom end/head(square port) is the same.

Tbh, i wouldn't bother tho.
I'd put money on a SPi engine with a SR cam and a SR exhaust making identical power to a 1.4sr engine, plus its better on fuel, and cheaper to insure.

With a 1300/1200 head yes.

Nope

1200carb/1300 head for a 1300 inlet.

good job Ive got a 1200 carbed head then lol
that raises another two questions then...How can you fit a weber 32/34 to a std 1400SR without changing the head if they are the same as the SPi 1400?
Also would there be a problem with compression when fitting the 1200 head?

Err, use the 1400sr inlet? Lol
A weber fits both, as the 1300/1400 inlets are the same, apart from the port shape.

1200 head does push compression up, might be ok tho.
A 1300 head would be a more sensible option.

Yep, using just the metal adaptor plate that you need to fit a 32/34dtml.

the standard pierburg carb with automatic choke on the 1.4sr is absolutly ****e, i want a weber carb with manuel choke, but aint got the lizzies for it!
