205/55/15 tyres??

I have bought some Cavi gsi wheels and they are about to be refurbed but i tried them on my car before i do them but i forgot about the width of the tyres lol they are 205s and the backs where rubbing on the struts withut even moving!! and the fronts rubbed abit to lol has anyone ever fitted 205s on there nova?? oooo 1 more thing i have a red Nova mk1 just standard do you think the cavi gsi wheels will look better in white or black?? everyone goes for black but i like white lol but i also like the mean look black gives you lol???:thumb: :confused:

look at SRlew's nova (mk1 red with white gsi cav rims) or umm can remember anyone with a red mk1 and black gsi rims.

I got a half Mk1 with black Cav slabs lol Its on 205 tyres ATM because they are what the rims came with (it is my runaround) and I couldnt be assed to change em/spend the money..

It ruins the handling no doubt! Had to roll all 4 arches too, no rubbing on struts though! and thats 60mm all round, I do intend to fit the 195/45s I have been given and get the car new arches and paint blah blah sometime soon

205/55 will have a massive side wall for a Nova, they'd be like tractor tyres... you'd want 205/40ish if you can get them. But ideally 195/45.

I had the Cav rims on my GSi for a bit with the 205/55 Cav rubber. I found it to rub slightly on the rear inner arch & the fr mudflaps. Mine was quite low too.

As for the colour.. cant you make your own mind up? Or better still write a letter to Total Vauxhall. Thay will tell you what colour to spray them!

yea my mate had a set of mk3 astra gsi wheels and lowered 60mm on his SR and they had the 205/55 15 tyres which rubbed like feck, so he put 195/45s and they were fine, and loads cheaper, cuz aparently they only put that size on cav and astra gsi and sierra cossies and a few others so not a common size.

Spray them bronze and fit some 195 45 15 rubber as its reasonably cheap, it wont rub and almost every tyre manufacturer makes a performance tyre in 195 45.

i have just bought a set o 4 5 spokes vauxhall fitment with really good 195/50/15 tyres on and either decide weather to fit them or to swap they tyres onto the cavi ones?? lol

It is your personal preference which design wheels you put onto your Nova, but which ever design you use, it is worth fitting the 195 50s to them. See if you can give/sell the 205s to a Cav driver or something. If you decide to put the cavvy slabs on, have the weights, valves and 205s taken off, then spray them, then have the 195s put on, it makes life so much easier mate!

lol Dannyb its just good that i work in a garage that sells tyres so all the balancingbbetc will be done free lol :thumb: Stripped all the tyres of 2day and self preped and primered up the gsi wheel and then blacked them look mint got to laquer them 2moro!!:thumb:
