View Full Version : Engine mounts
As the mounts in my SR are ****ed, im gonna fit my solids to it,
How easy is it to change them in situ, and how long should it take??
Step-by-step would help, or just a general guide!!
Ta!
Stu
Tis easy.
Just support the engine(with a few trolley jacks, or a engine hoist) undo the mounts from the chassis, then from the engine/gearbox.
Replace the bits you need to, bolt the mounts back on the engine/box, then onto the chassis.
Remove engine support.
I would do them one at a time, eg jack up one side of engine, replace mount, then the rear one then the gearbox one.
Agreed Ben, thats what i did when i fitted mine.
stu how did you get on?
im leaving my engine in now, but i still want my solids on, is it best to do one a time like?
hey, is there much on an advantage to the solid mounts? how dose it affect the bay stress wize? cheers
If you have fillings in your teeth dont bother, they will fall out within 24hours.
lol, fair enough. its ging to rattel everythin to bits then maybe not such a good idea
whats the goog points about them anyway?
Erm there expensive, ah suppose thats bad too.
TBH nigh on everyone i know who has fitted them swap back within a few months.
lol people change them back!! im looking forward to getting mine driveable now so i can see what there like. im getting worried though if you say people go back to standard ones lol
Soilid mounts are one of the best mods you can do. Of course if you'd rather be a bit poofy and have a smoother ride then dont, but if you want all of the engines power going to the wheels and a much more direct feel, then do it. If your not a homo, youll love it lol
