on my engine its got the wide type bottom pulley, not the twin v one.
when fitting a single v bottom pulley what alternator do i use?
if i change the alternator pulley for a single v one how will i tension the belt as the alternator doesnt move

You need the v type alternator as well, as the other one wont even get in the engine bay.

The 8v has a different bottom pulley.

You need a early XE bottom pulley.

Yes you can swap the pulleys, i think anyway. Sure i had to do this to an astra but it was the other way ruond on the alternator

Actually forget that as you will need to have the different bracket for tensioning which the multi one doesnt have. So yes you will need the V-type alternator.
