hesitating misfiring and backfiring

I was driving my car the other day and it's misfiring but when it's under 2k rpm. when my foot is flat the car losses are power and feels like its going to die, as soon as my foot comes off the acclerator it backfires which massive flame and bang!!!!!! but it will still drive just with but with light accleration...

Checked the nomial things plugs, leads and so on

mine was doing this... went to get it tuned this week and the guy blew my dizzy up :( have borrowed one off a friend until i can sort one and my car is fine now... guessing the dizzy was on its last legs.

What engine, and check the timing.

yeah sounds like ignition timing is out , get a haynes manual and re-set it as per book

Cheers lads found the problem some of the leads gone passed to car heaven also foun d some water on the rotor arm in the dizzy and good clean and but of vasaline on the contacts she running better now
