hey peeps , ok no laughing please , as i know this is a real blonde question !!
where is the engine number on a C20XE , is it easy to see just by lifting the bonnet ?

It can be found on the engine where the gearbox mounts..:thumb:

A guy i know informed the DVLA of the engine number on his block, engine was from a stolen car over 10 years before, he had to provide evidence etc where he got it from and lost the engine.

well then going by what you just said , if i made up a number they would know it was made up ?
No it wouldnt correspond with anything.
So would they not then write back and tell you the number you've gave them doesn't exist.
They must do checks of some sort, because i've heard of people being told they couldn't use that engine, as the car it came from had not had its engine number changed on the logbook, and one number can't be in use twice.
