I have a problem
My sri engine is fucked. It's old and was shagged by the preious owner.I have two options
1.Fit offered 1.4 sr engine allready fitted with Twin 40's,board to 1.5 with hiughlift cam?
2.fix sri engine(only 88000 gauranteed miles)

Whats the best option for money(ie cheapest) and if I change the engine what about insurance?(coz the won't touch me with a changed engione or does it not matter coz their almost the same??Oh and I'm 17 so insurance sucks badly at the mo!!
HELP!!
Oh and I was also thinkin of a corsa sri or sport engine but again dunno bout insurance :(

hmm twin 40's, bored out etc, these are things insurance companies wont want to hera you saying. I doub;r you would get insurance on it with those mods. If you did it would cost you arn arm and a leg !!
I'd just think about a straignt swap engine wise. Call your insurance company and get a few quotes and go for the best option or whatever you can afford. Check b4 you spendany money.

Which W4nker made nova's with a 49 offset !!!!!

Take it to bits, find out what`s bust, replace broken parts; problem solved ;)

eeeeeh! apparently when you take the head of a vauxhall engine over 50,000 miles, it will start to burn oil like feck and needs a complete rebuild. Says some bloke i know who knows his vauxhalls. it happned wif my sri engine when the head gasket needed changed. but now its a 2L !! so i dont care! :)

I wouldn't mind but i think I'll just trry to find another sri engine eoither from a nova or a corsa.I would like the corsa one coz they make a kool noise withan induction kit.I have v little technical knowledge and so don't want to pay over the odds to get it rebuilt etc

You could drop a 1.4 16v corsa engine in it,I would be reluctant to drop the injection for carbs, or rebuild the engine yourself, theres only one way to learn.

Hey man If u knew me!! I'm likely to turn the engine on afterwards and have all cranks, rods bnlah blah bent backwards and upside down.Believe me I have v limited tech knowledge.I know how things work but I couldn't tell ya how to do anything!!

so. take this as an oppurtunity to learn. its just like a bigger lego technic set. read the manuals ask people etc and maybe have someone watch you do it. its not like brain surgery. you cant be as dense as a mate of mine that rebuilt his landy V8 without the pistons and conrods now that is special!!! LOL it turned over like a rocket LMAO

Yeh it's not brain surgery, just read the haynes manual and take your time, check everything. It's daunting first time you dive in but it's so easy.
