Dan did you do anything with that template cover i sent?

Thanks for comments lads!:thumb:

Yes mate, fully mapped, but had to stop at 1.2 bar/ 1.6 over boost as injectors were about 90% duty cycle, poss the fuel pump as it's on bosch 803's, so should be ok for more, but was told to enjoy it for now then go back later for more!
Was 20 deg+ the day i picked it up, wasted my e46 m3 on the way home, spins it's wheels all through 3rd and some of 4th so was chuffed!

sounds promising mate, should be pretty powerful!:thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Aslong as it's enough to have some fun! although i did set out as a personal goal about 5 years ago for it to run a 12 something down the quarter lol

If i can ever achieve this i will be very happy, power wise it's a bit restricted due to running a hybrid garret T3, but it seems to drive great with this setup with almost no lag!

power isnt everything a no lag quick spooling turbo lump makes a great nova much better and fun to drive than a huuuge turbo'd engine!

ahh i see now! :d:d:d awesome car by the way mate, wish my engine bay looked as organised and tidy as yours!

is it on the road now or does it need mapping at mad?

dan16v
07-03-10, 02:07 PM
No mate it's all fully mapped, but last year when i got the car back the engine bay was really dirty so i stripped loads of parts out, but in doing this i must have disturbed something as now the car sounds like its running on 3 or the timing is some how out!.

dan16v
28-01-11, 02:30 PM
Possibly for sale at the right price! lost intrest.

Ben
28-01-11, 03:54 PM
is it running?

dan16v
28-01-11, 04:31 PM
No Ben, drove it home from Berkshire and was told not to **** around with it!, so with that in mind i took it apart to clean it all up and now it wont start, must have disturbed something electrical!.
If i had the time again i would fit a non abs disk rear beam, as there isnt much meat betweek the bolt holes, and re do the cross member as i used stupidly thick metal back in the day!

Ben
28-01-11, 05:44 PM
flol your a pain in the ass!

Wish he had sold it to me when i asked last year, fooker!

Nick J
29-01-11, 12:36 PM
Get it up and running again Dan and you will feel ten times better about it. The show season is still a little way off and If you could make it to at least one Im sure you would thoroughly enjoy it. We all get down in the dumps about them occasionally (Me more than most currently!) but after some hard use Im sure those feeling will be just a distant memory. ;)

Nick.

The Simps
29-01-11, 01:22 PM
True Nick but he has an M3 and a cossie now. I can understand why the nova is off little interest tbh.

True Nick but he has an M3 and a cossie now. I can understand why the nova is off little interest tbh.

He has sold the M3.

If i was Dan i would remove the autronic, stick a LET loom on it, AFM and phase 3.5 and sell it as a runner.

dan16v
29-01-11, 04:07 PM
Still in 2 minds with it! put me off last year all the hassle i had with insuring it, but i did like driving it, was massive fun!.
M3 is now sold, picking up a focus rs next week.

Rick Draper
29-01-11, 04:09 PM
Get rid of that **** ecu and go back to basics imho.

29-01-11, 06:34 PM
Listen to Rick. He has experience with breaking/selling cars.

Rick Draper
29-01-11, 09:51 PM
Dans such a faggot he does not want to get his hands dirty!

Mornings job to change it all back over and have a spot on nova. IMHO Finished its up there with the best on the scene. Its just the SM2 is pre-historic and has never got on well with vauxhall engines!

Paul
29-01-11, 10:45 PM
He has sold the M3.

Why de-spec it, I appreciate SM2 may not work well with the Vauhall engine as you say, but go for a tried and tested method, such as Omex/DTA etc.

Emerald isnt brilliant so I hear, after the amount of trouble Fenny had with his.

At least then the map will be correct for the car, and not just close-ish.

Rick Draper
29-01-11, 11:34 PM
Because Dan's interest is I believe no longer in chasing round having it mapped or spending out a fair wedge on another ecu. He just wants to use it and therefore the easiest, cheapest and least time consuming way is to fit motronic.

Paul

Id say that the 3.5 option is as expensive as Omex/DTA or very close.

Rick Draper
30-01-11, 11:43 AM
Id say that the 3.5 option is as expensive as Omex/DTA or very close.

Phase 3.5 ECU can be had cheap, for a omex or DTA your looking at the best part of a grand by the time you have bought it, made the loom and mapped it.

krobinson
30-01-11, 02:39 PM
Dan.. Fix it!

dan16v
30-01-11, 06:52 PM
Ricks option is the most sensible, but the main thing i cba with is re fitting a AFM as there is no room the way things are set up at the moment. But he is right, im fed up of taking things here there and every-where to be sorted, and im done with spending big money on the car. But all i need to do is take the car back to Marks and it would be sorted. Not sure at the moment it's driving me mad also owning 3 cars.

Easier said than done dude when you are trying to look for a house, then the house needs 2 garages or a double to house them both, and trying to resto an escort rs cosworth isnt cheap either as it needs a re-spray.

I think realistically you need to have some fun out of it Dan, I mean you've been building it since I first came on here near enough, and done what a few hundred miles in it!

Even if you use it for one summer only then break/sell it. Its a lot of time/money and effort to go to waste.

Your car, your choice though...

dan16v
31-01-11, 12:14 PM
Thanks Paul, yes thats what i need to do, i just got really hacked off with the insurance side of things last time and that put me off a little. I know it would break for alot more than i want to sell it for, but due to having no house im abit in limbo at the moment!.

Still tempted, 3.5k could take it as it stands, it's not mint, but would break for a fair bit more.

Graeme
19-02-11, 07:15 AM
First refusal on the front bumper/'cooler combo if you break. Sorry to sound like a vulture, I'd like to see the car in the flesh at a show really

If you break, I'll be interested in the blue hoses, header tank, brakes and possibly the shell.

Thanks for intrest guys, if it goes it will be complete, will know more in a few days, the problem is we are trying to buy a house at the mo has a large plot of land and loads of potential, but at present has no garage and wont have for some time as it looks like we may have to pay the asking price to secure it if we are even lucky enough then.

19-02-11, 09:44 PM

Yeah I had about 5 people say they would have had it after I scrapped my shell, it'd been up for sale for around 6 months, at times with parts worth more than I was asking for the package, truth is most of the time, they only think they would have had it because it's no longer a real opportunity, and actually didn't have a way to pay for it or pick it up anyway.

Project thread here Connor http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=89502&page=13

Should have some decent updates on it soon when it goes away to be painted/put back together. Undecided if i should have an underside resto done and get the underside done white etc, seems the problem with this is they then never get used.
