chrisnovaturbo, get in line!lol
All mapped, car is mental, diff drags you all across the road!, spins the wheels all through 3rd and alot of the way through 4th! and it was 21+deg today.
First casulty, the rear gearbox mount has removed its self from the floor of the carlol, always remember that thread was fooked!

Good work Dan, keep it now!
So now you want to keep it yes? :p lol
Rick Draper
29-05-09, 08:51 PM
Cannot wait to collect it. Just need dan to sort out this pesky rear mount now.
Nice..... Now wheres the pics?
Jay car is abit of a mess, and needs a good day spent tidying!, also have a problem with the electrics, Engine fans dont work, nor do any of the lights/ indicators etc? any hints? the lights come on if you turn the button to 'off' and go out if you turn the 'on', but the indicators do not work at all and the interior blower motor seems slow, and also stops when you turn the light switch to 'on'!!. Very odd as it all worked 100% before, i have checked fuses and they all seem fine, funny thing is im sure i have had this problem once before years ago.

sounds like the brown earth wire thats part of the headlamp etc loom mate usually bolts on to the chassis leg with the earth strap that goes on to the gearbox is

Bet mark has snagged something in the bay at some point.
You will connect it and the ****er will not run! lol
Will have a look around on monday boys and see whats what, does sound like an iffy earth!
A small vid showing what the car is like upto 40mph, as that was the speed limit on this road. Sound is rubbish as all the windows were open lol

Love how dusty the dash is! Chav wiper too.
But hugely impress that its running again.
Do like it that its only running now as your selling it.
Chav wiper! its a nova ffs! chav central lol, to many comments on the wiper now, anyone got a std set up laying around with linkage!? or fancy a swap?
Oh and Benn, that interior is after abit of a wipe down!, dusty a fook! same as the engine bay, how can i clean the bay? was thinking soft paint brush and a hose pipe?

Hose pipe and a clloth.
Righty,
Interior is all sorted and looking spot on again, Found out my electrical problem was due to an earth fault, so that is now also sorted and everything works the way it should!
Re tapped the captive nut for the gearbox mount, and that also seems a good job, lastly the gay job of re attaching the cv boot! all sorted ready for some taxlol

Rick Draper
01-06-09, 10:39 PM

Think hes starting to like it...
Depends how fast i can get you that tailgate homo, unless you want it as it is, and you can sort it out?

Rick Draper
05-06-09, 07:29 PM
Shouldnt the new owner be doing that? ;)
Nope it has to be clean when i get it or i will start knocking money off and Dan would soon owe me dolla!
lol, owe you cash!, at the end of the day i wont sell the car untill its 100% as it should be, Dont want Rick to have it then start thinking wtf is going on with this that and the other!
Ricki will only take it apart...
Rick wanna see vids of you driving like an utter c**t in the goyt valley and over the cat and fiddle to buxum when you get it..

2nd'd.
Race is on now, dropping the bumpers off this week to be sprayed with textured primer and re done in a grey similar to the standard shade, Then get a boot off Colin on the 19th.
Benn, when would you be flogging your smoothed grab handle? as it would be a bonus if i could get that done the same time as the bumpers. Also getting the inner arches spruced up with some more toyota supa white!
You can have it today if you want, it needs a rub down tho as i've notice you can see the ghosting of the rivets, so a rub down primer and paint would be perfect for it.
Cheers mate, you about 2moro at all? i can pop down then

He so isnt getting it...
Sorry???
So started the sorting today,
The car runs on DIS pack, but uses the distributer as a pick up instead of the 60-2 crank trigger (autronic hates 60-2)
To make it look neater i ordered up some carbon in 2x2 to make a cap,
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v211/dan16v/DSC00333.jpg
Then got stuck into the cleaning
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v211/dan16v/DSC00337.jpg

You really did not have to do all this for me before i collect it Dan. A quick wash and a set of speedlines would have been spot on.
Nick, its not a patch on yours mate, looking abit tired these days, all the spraying was done about 5 years ago, paint starting to come off gear box etc looks a mess, may try and tart the box up in situ, engine needs to come out really lol

Looks pretty good to me fella... Nothing I couldnt have sorted in a weekend in that case , Its the build quality that counts and you and howell seem to have done a good job by my reckoning! :)
Edit... There was one thing I wanted to ask you... The old cam cover you used to have on the car (chequered one) You dont still have it do you? If not how did you do it... Airbrushed?
Nick.
Nick its under the wrinkle paintlol, it was air brushed, oddly enough you are the second person to ask me about that this week!.

Gutted! I've been thinking black chequer over red so similar to yours etc. Was hoping to find a ready made stencil to use but to no avail so far. May have to get in touch with an airbrush fanatic then lol
Be very nice for Rick to drive home in, will let me have one last look too..lol

Funny you should ask about it because im going to see the guy that done it for dan tomorrow, could ask for a price if your interested. The guy is a top quality sprayer. have a look at his site, his work is amazing.

Dave was sound, but been going over my car today, feck me there are so many runs in the laquer!
Your right hes mainly into bikes but i spoke to him today and he said he might be able to sort me out.

Weather in the SHIRE has been amazing all day. I hope its as dry when you drop her off.
Thanks to Joycey ive now got a tailgate!, just need to strip it down, and also try and remove the gsi spoiler from myne (dont think its bolted on must be bonded).
Yea usualy Benn, i did have a quick look the other day though and cant say i noticed any bolts on the inside!
Yea usualy Benn, i did have a quick look the other day though and cant say i noticed any bolts on the inside!
If there's no bolts fella its obviously bonded, will be a bitch to get off! usually requires cheesewiring or you could buy another spoiler cheap and sell your boot complete with spoiler undamaged etc. Should be loads of spoilers on the bay etc. ;)
is this
Howell Jones
old car?
looks sweet
is this H. Jones's old car?
looks sweet
Yes
Thanks for heads up Nick, need this one as parts are going to spray shop sundaylol
Cheers Martin!
As thought, the bastid was bonded on!, got it off ok in the end, just annoying as id rather do it right. The studs have been cut off this spoiler, so it will have to be bonded onto the new tailgate!. Dropping all parts off tomorrow afternoon for paint.
Cars coming on well, not going to be any where near mint, but should be tidy. Just been re routing some wires, cleaning all the hoses and stripping the cam cover/belt cover and tophat for paint, all body work bits are in the paintshop!. Also sent some parts off for flocking.

yea its nice to see this getting rebuilt!!
Just been out again, as one thing thats bugged me for a while is the 'valet switch' on the alarm did not work, and its a gay clifford, every time you blip the fob it says 'armed' or 'dissarmed' in a gay american voice which drives me insanelol
Was just a case of a broken wire on the switch!
if only you had this inspiration years ago!
yup proper gay! you can press both buttons at once so its silent, but if you dont press them right it still talks and you look a cock!, used to be able to change it to a beep, but that does not seem to work anymore.

All looks good Dan.
Thankyou Craig
Benn, yes engine is on the late tensioner set up, Top hat was in wrinkle paint before mate and looked the bizz, so going the same again!
Just fitted my coil pack bracket, looks spot on, i chopped about 10mm out of it then re welded it so it sits closer to the head!
Pic of the freshly coated belt cover;

All hail the double oven lol
Disaster averted, turns out there are loads of codes for the toyota supa white, and i dont know the code of myne, should be fine to match it with the spoiler, so this is the only option for now!.
Bumpers are all done and re-textured!, just tailgate and grab handle to go!
More good news, all the flocking is complete!
Where you having that done.
A mates dad owns a bodyshop in Bournemouth, getting it done there, they do alot of resto and concourse stuff, after the nova parts the Escos is going there for a windows out full respray
Ffs, does it really need it?
Yes mate, been keyed down one side in it's life time, they only machine polished it out, so in the sun you can still see it, also theres a few mark here and there.

Carbon vin dropped off at sign writters, £25 min order lol, this car will seam too cheap at 3k lol
more fooking about today, engine was not sitting 100% level, so removed the pass side mount, welded up the holes then re-drilled some more in the correct location!
scott.parker
19-06-09, 05:38 PM

Scott, I could do most of the work myself, and alot of it is new flooring and plaster board etc, but i earn pritty good money therefore would rather pay someone else to do itlol Wont need a loan, but will need to switch some cash about as i cleared most of my current account when i bought the m3 lol!
Righty, still going with this! painted up the engine mounts, removed and took apart the wiper motor unit and sprayed it all up, Carbon vin plate is all done, thermostat is sprayed up and re-fitted and loads of new stainless bolts!
Need my cam cover acid dipping now to remove all the old powdercoat, but this is proving to be a tough task!

Hopefully a missunderstanding with the dash parts, and they will be sent 2moro! I hope so as im starting to worry about deadlines etc!
Fitted the concentric top mounts, and anyone know if you can get a feed for the rev counter from an injector pulse? as this is where my apexi takes it rpm reading from.
Benn any chance you could start looking mate? as at this point im not to hopefull about the parts turning up!
BRoadGhost
01-07-09, 04:37 PM
Dan does the motor still work?
I was under the impression the steel backing plate acts as earth via one of the bolts that attaches it to the bulkhead…
Surely using the injector pulse fort a rpm reading will mean you lose the reading on over run ?
Jon, cant do it via the injector pulse ive been told as it will only register 1/2 rpm, which makes sense i suppose!
Wiper motor requires an earth back to the scuttle area, easy to do just run one off the motor onto the attatching screw!, good eye though!
Dan, ive got most if not all the bits you need for your dash.
Benn any chance you could start looking mate? as at this point im not to hopefull about the parts turning up!
What bits do you need? I have the clocks binocal, the center vent (i think)
Sure i have the lights pannel too.
right homos, thank fook all the flocked parts came today from Doug, and must say they are fooking awsome, very pleased. also sprayed up the cam cover yesterday so that wii be fitted in a sec and the bay can go down as complete
Good news Dan! does it have a standard back end now too? will make the car so much better imo :)
Nick iam picking it all up this week, yup standard tailgate, shame i could not find an early one though!, had the bumpers done in dark grey but with textured primer, same as the grab handle, also has done me a thick mix of supa white for the wheel arches as they were looking abit off whitelol
The place ive used have been outstanding, he even went to the effort of drilling out the sawn off studs in the spoiler and bonding new studs in so it fits like the standard item!
Starting to look ok i suppose!
Glad i cut the 10mm out of the coil bracket, sits nice and close now!

god Daniel.
Because mate the SM2 does not like the vaux 60-2 trigger, so we are using a cosworth cam sensor for NO1 pick up on the cam belt cover, then the dizzy with 3 extra cut outs for the 4 cylinders on the hall sensor.

Thats fair enough, I'm suprised the ecu can't configure for that though, all the LPG stuff I did would but my concern for you was that on overrun you would lose the signal which on a LPG system will switch the car back to petrol, I'm not sure what affect that would have on yours but it wouldn't be ideal.
Normally we would just pull a signal off the phase sensor or crank sensor but an injector was always handy for a quick get it running fix.

Dan why can you not just get rpm from the ecu itself?
That maybe possible Rick, but Mark has my sm2 manual so i have no idea on pin-outs etc! not sure if it would give the correct signal for the vaux counter?

Strut brace all fitted up!
Just been re-locating the oil pressure sensor, what a complete ****!, its done but got no room for the standard sender now, ****!
Mate i can make you up a nice fitting so you can you use both senders. It consists of some nice swaglock fittings and one fitting from the hose place in millbrook. Basically ive moved the after market sender further up the block out of the way giving you plenty of room for the standard sender.
Job done.
That would be spot on mate!, will just go by the spa read-out for now as that should be cock on!
Bay looks the bollox
Cheers Ad, Twag all sorted now mate, forgot i had that old xe bottom end from Gavs calibra, it had the smaller switch fitted that must only read low pressure, that went in a treat!
Re fitted the boost pipe and the plug leads, just waiting on a phone call to pick up the bodywork bits and bobs!

awesome car really is stunning! has it been mapped fully yet fella?
Yes mate, fully mapped, but had to stop at 1.2 bar/ 1.6 over boost as injectors were about 90% duty cycle, poss the fuel pump as it's on bosch 803's, so should be ok for more, but was told to enjoy it for now then go back later for more!
Was 20 deg+ the day i picked it up, wasted my e46 m3 on the way home, spins it's wheels all through 3rd and some of 4th so was chuffed!
Glad its going back together, wanna see it on the road again.
Looks really good, love the crackle finish
