where does this wire go?

hello i got a single blue wire now the temp gauage dont work and when i get this blue wire and put it on the engine block the temp gauge goes in the red but i cant see where it goes if someone could tell me or send me a picture that would be great and if i left my car running how long before the fan to cut it i dont no if it works cheers adam any help would be good!!!!

Depends what engine it is?

If its an XE the single blue wire goes from the front OS of the engine by the thermostat on a spade fitting back into the clocks on the temp guage.

It depends on different things on when the fan kicks in, normally between 95-98 degrees

its a 1.2 spi engine 92 k reg

It clips on the temperature sender on the top side of the inlet manifold(by the head)
