16v brakes or turbo brakes, theres a difference

16v are 256 and turbo are 308mm IIRC

lee 16v

turbo as in v6 308mm

V6 are 288mm

lol

When you know what brakes you have then we can tell you if they will fit

16v - 256mm
V6 - 288mm
Turbo - 308mm

Ben

Nope there 284mm, Calibra/Cavalier/vectra SRi's etc are 288mm and the Vectra GSi is 308mm

I stand corrected!!

So i was nearly right!!

If your brakes are 308's you will need a minnimum of 16" Wheels and even with speedlines you possibly need spacers,

(technically you could get away with a 15" compomotive or similar before people winge)

they look like 288mm as hes already got speedlines on

He wants to use cav GSI wheels while his speedlines get sprayed!
Should fit no probs!

15" wheels do fit over 288's as the vectra had them fitted as standard so no reason why not.

But i have fitted the Astra Sport wheels over 288's with no problems so cant see why he cant unless they are 308's.

As said the Vectra SRi have exactly the same size wheels as the astra sport as standard so no reason why they wont fit,

Try a 2mm spacer or similar

tryed that and then they hit the inside of the wheel, the wheels are thick on the inside they dont fit for s**t mate

lee 16v
05-11-06, 01:59 PM

Stoo

lee 16v
05-11-06, 02:04 PM
haha yer it hits the iner bit of the wheels, i was thinking of getting the grinder out onto the brakes it only needs a little bit off and would save me ****ing about with new wheels

lee 16v
05-11-06, 02:07 PM
oh ok, yer it hits the iner, i might get the grinder out, save me getting new wheels

Stoo

yeah just grind a bit off the calipers

lee 16v
05-11-06, 02:16 PM
yer this is what im thinking as long as you cant see it when the speed lines are on

its a pain, i could put the 16v brakes back on, but the discs arent going to pass the mot, and the tyres on the speed lines arnt ether, so i dont want to put the tyres on till there painted, ans i need it on the road next week, and it still needs work, i guess i could but the back wheels on the front and the 15s on the back and then swap the brakes after the mot then paint them all up and fit them again but even thats a lot of pissing about.

V6 brakes dont fit with the astra wheels due to the spokes, same problem with speedlines. Cav gsi rims will fit over them cos thats my current set-up on my valver.

lee 16v
05-11-06, 02:59 PM
my speed lines do fit though

I didnt mean with the v6 brakes, on some 308mm kits the spokes catch.

lee 16v
05-11-06, 04:16 PM
oh ok i was going to get a 308 kit good job i didnt lol

Ben

You will only nee to grind a couple of mm of, paint them afterwards and you wont notice.

V6 Brakes WILL fit behind the astra sport wheels i have done it personally.

Nope there 284mm, Calibra/Cavalier/vectra SRi's etc are 288mm and the Vectra GSi is 308mm

Do the 308mm discs fit with the cav turbo calipers?
