RECENTLY WHEN I WAS DRIVING, MY ENGINE STALLED AS I WAS GOING DOWN A HILL I RESTARTED IT UP THEN TOOK IT HOME AFTER PETROL. KNOW I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE THE PLUGS BUT I JUST BOUGHT NEW ONES STILL NO GO WHEN I REV-IT IT CUTS OUT IT REVS SPITS AND SOMTIMES BACKFIRES ANY IDEAS TO WHAT THIS IS?
ALSO THERE IS A VERY STRONG SMELL OF PETROL FROM THE EXHAUST I WAS THINKING IT WAS THE MIXTURE IN THE CARB?
HOPE YOU CAN HELP?

Try advanceing the timing, and keep it running, i had this prob, it ran very dodgy for a while, flames out the carn n stuff for about 20 mins, then slowly went better!!
I just advanced the timing, and waited!!

Check that the fuel enrichment valve on the carb is ok! It has a diafram each side and if it is split u would never know unless u took it apart! It is located at the right hand side of the carb. U have to remove the 2 screws and make sure u have something to collect the petrol that will piss out! Check the haines manual if ur not sure how to do it!
