5 speed quicker top end and it will be better on fuel depends what you want out of the car
i have a 5speed box off a 1.6 8v GSi engine, im only near basingstoke too
right here goes.
1. having an extra gear doesn't necessarily mean you go faster. the top gear in a gte is the same as a std 4speed top gear. also the diff ratio is important.......
2. what engine & box do you have? not all will fit the 1.6.
3. you will also need a 5 speed gearstick, they are different.

the engine is a 1.6 8v gsi nova
and the box is and f13 four speed
the five speed one from a nova gsi
im looking for fast accelaration not to botherd with top end long as i will do 100 will be fine
i was told five speed better top end
4 speed very quick accelartion
As far as i know the 4 speed box won't fit as the bolt holes don't line up.

its only the 4 spd off the 1 ltr that wont fit, the ones of the 1.2s will fit tho.
