Asa follow up to my original post, I was told that the servos are all the same, a 1.4sr servo should be more than capable of running 2.0l brakes, the thing is, my brakes have never been good. I had sr ones originally, then I put GSI ones on which came off of my brothers car, they were fine on his car and shite on mine, then I put these 2.0l ones on and there cack as well. The servo isn't leaking pressure so I don't think its the servo. They don't have any air in them and theres not too much play in the pedal. the pads are new and they have bneen on the car for 6 weeks now, the runners on the callipers are fine and the drums are fine as well. Could it be the master cylinder, trouble is I wanna be sure coz its ?50 for a master cylinder and if it doesn't work its a bloody waste of money. Any more ideas people?

When I fitted brand new cav brakes to mine they were fine straight away. Try fitting a GTE/GSI brake servo, check the rear brake cylinders aren`t losing fluid and you could also try adjusting the pedal to servo linkage as too much pedal play will make things worse.

Nah, there r 2 types in 3 types in novas!
1L
1.2/1.3/1.4
1.4sri/1.6GTE/1.6GSi (same as some astra)

It does make a big difference!
I have 16v setup with 1.3/1.4 servo.
Mingle has nova GSi setup with GSi servo!
And his brakes work much betterthan mine!

Also i know some1 with vectra v6 (massive) setup. He is using a GSi servo and had to ajust his brake pedal loads b4 it would do anything!

You should be able to get a second hand master cylinder fairly cheap, this sound like your only option now, must be the servo or master cylinder. Check the servo diaphram before you replace the master cylinder.

there are more types the early cars had 3? (kev will know) kinds of servos the gold ones, then later cars had the black ones of which there are 2 sizes gte/gsi/sri/td/d have the larger size other engines have the smaller size

for the ultimate servo a frontera one can be made to fit it is 320mm in diameter

I don't have much pedal, ther's no air in the system, l have nova gte calipers with new discs and pads, it feels like the front left is stuck on slightly what could cause this? is it the back drums causing the problems with the lack of pedal or is it pedal linkage?

Ish, if its the linkage this can be adjusted at the brake pedal with an adjuster but don't over do it or the brakes bind. It could also be the self adjusters in the drums not working. If the front left is stuck on it will be a siezed slider, fit a new slider kit, you don't even need to remove the bungie pipe if your carefull(no bleeding to do).
